i tried to use the search function, but i kept getting errors. Any recs for OB/GYN? The doc i used for years for yearly checkups no longer does OB. I used Capital Womens Care for my first, and disliked the group i went to greatly. Dr Laurin was nice, Lakner and Wei were absolutely terrible. In general, I disliked the entire practice and found them to be cold and uncaring. I had complications early on and no one seemed to care at all. it wasnt until I went to Greater Washington maternal (Dr Pinckert et.al.) for the DS testing that I felt someone paid attention. They even asked if my complication was why I was sent there. I wish I could just go straight there, but they only work in conjunction with an OB/GYN.
Recs would be greatly appreciated! We are thinking of having another and I don't really want to go to CWC again if I can find a better alternative.
Re: OB/GYN in Rockville/Gaithersburg?
I moved from PA to Gaithersburg and had to switch from an OB that was ok in PA to FABULOUS care with midwifery care associates. You can find them at www.midwiferycareassociates.com and they are associated with an OB practice called Simmonds, Martin and Helmbrecht. I have been SO happy with the midwives - they don't rush you through appointments and i usually end up chatting with them or being examined by them for a minimum of half an hour, if not longer. They are incredibly knowledgeable (i have a fairly strong medical background - they know their stuff!) and thorough. I know that this may not be quite what you're looking for - perhaps someone on the board can comment on the OBs associated with the midwives.
Good luck!!!
I'm experiencing the exact same thing with that particular practice (appt. with Dr. Lakner this Monday) and if insurance concerns weren't an issue right now we'd switch in a heartbeat! That being said, i went to Maryland Perinatal Associates for my 1st trimester NT scan and LOVED them! They're off of Shady Grove Road but they have a bunch of different offices. I really liked the Rockville office and I think when we have another child I'll switch my insurance so I can be seen there. It's the only doctor's office I've ever arrived 30 minutes early to and they saw me right away. They were very informative and patient with all of my questions.
