So last week I updated that I went in and they ground down a high spot on one of the fillings and it got better for 2 days, then the pain came back. On Monday I called and made an appt for an Endodontist bc I figured if I needed a root canal, I wanted a professional doing it. And I was hoping if that was the case, a different person would have a better chance with the novocaine also.
Tuesday was awful, probably the worse pain I had. But I also felt like it was hitting my 3rd to back tooth, the one behind the eye tooth. So I went to the dentist that did my fillings during my lunch and they said it was hitting that one hard....ground that down. And then also said that I should think about getting orthodontics bc my bite is all over the place. I was surprised and said I did have braces back in jr high and that my bite did not hurt at all before I got these fillings. What the heck.
So over the last 2 days my pain has gotton a lot better and during the morning and afternoons it is just annoying, but in the evenings it is painful enough I take a tylenol. The tylenol still takes the pain away though, so that is good. But I don't want to take tylenol daily. I bet I have had more tylenol this pregnancy than prenatals, ugh.
My endodontist appt was this morning. He said I do not need a root canal.....at least not yet. Maybe the one tooth is on it's way to needing one, but it does not respond like a tooth they would normally see. He could bang on it with no pain, and even though it is cold sensitive, it goes away and doesn't linger. He said he was surprised I seemed disappointed. I am thrilled I don't need a root canal, but disappointed that this is still going on and that I don't have a real solution. I am hoping the pain gets a bit better every day. My bite still feels different and a little off, but not like it is hitting a tooth hard. So I am really hoping the nerves just calm down now with some more time.

So glad they were able to file it down some more and relieve some of your pain at least. I was thinking about you this morning while brushing my teeth and the pain I have and wanted to share. With both pregnancies....but more so with T I had horrible tooth sensitivity and pain....when brushing, with different temperatures, and oddly with foods that are stored/wrapped in foil. I remember asking my dentist about it when I was pregnant with T and also I did a little research on my own and found that it's a common complaint during pregnacies. ...Maybe this could be part of your pain and discomfort??
Thanks, I did see your last update, but for some reason not until this morning before I went in. One Q - I do feel like the bite is still somewhat off....but I am nervous to go back and have them adjust it again. It is hard to tell, bc it depends on how I am closing my mouth. Last time they also shaved down my eye tooth....a tooth that has never had a cavity and that wasn't one of the ones they originally worked on. Is that normal? Is that bad for the tooth itself to be shaved down? I thought that they were just shaving down the filling stuff.
I know that this high bite thing can happen at any dentist. And I bet part of it was that I was in the chair forever getting the fillings, so I bet my bite was not normal when I bit down on the paper. I have the TMJ/clicking in my jaw thing that doesn't ever normally bother me, but when my mouth is open like that for so long, I bet I didn't bite down like I normally would. But I feel like I would be nervous now going back to her after all this. My follow-ups have been with the tech who is awesome and a sub dentist that was there Tuesday since the original was out.
Did the dentist check ALL of your teeth?
I had a tooth that was bothering me last fall/early winter.. I swore up and down that it was a bottom tooth, maybe the 3rd from the back.. but definitely not the wisdom tooth or the one immediately in front of it.. The dentist checked out all my bottom teeth back there and said they were fine.. I knew that my wisdom tooth on the top on that side needed to be removed because it was broken, but I was POSITIVE that wasn't the tooth that was hurting, because it was a bottom tooth that was hurting.. I was pregnant at the time, so he didn't want to do anything unnecessary, so he didn't suggest pulling it then since it wasn't the tooth that was bothering me. So, like you, i was disappointed that they didn't have a cause for the pain.
The pain went away for a few weeks after that.. and then came back a little. And then it got BAD, and it became very apparent that it was the top wisdom tooth causing the pain.. I ended up going in Christmas eve morning for an emergency extraction.. So thats just something to keep in mind with teeth, that it might not be where you think it is that is causing the pain.

The regular dentist did not. But the endodentist did. Mainly I think bc they were not giving him the results he expected to see. He did the thing where he bangs on each tooth and also did the cold sensitivity thing on them all. Not the front teeth, but all the ones behind the eye teeth on both sides and top and bottom. The endodentist did say that if it gets worse or unbearable to come back and they would get me right in, so I am glad I had this appointment in case I ever do need them.
I do think that my teeth there are more sensitive...but I don't know if that is because of the white fillings I just got done or being pregnant, or maybe both I'm not sure. But the sensitivity is ok, it is the constant throbbing that is making me go crazy. Maybe being pregnant is making the pain worse? But it can't just be the pregnancy bc I had zero pain before these fillings.
