I bought a Britax carseat the other day. I made my decision based on the the size of my child, the size of my car and the quality of the car seat. What I did notice when I got home was an American Flag stamped near the bottom of the box above the words "Fabririque aux E-U" I also live in Canada so the box is labelled in French and English.
Made in the US. I have been thinking a lot about this recently. Perhaps it is because I follow Michael Moore on Facebook. I think anything made in North America is worth paying the extra money for. I think about how many people are losing their jobs because factories in China can churn out things so inexpensively. I think about how I want DS to be able to find a a job here when he grows up. Every time I talk to a relative about how easy it was for them to purchase a home or find they always say "That was a different time" I worry I'm going to be saying that to my own child one day which makes me fear, how much worse are things going to get for the average person.
Sorry for rambling, my point is why are we not looking where things are made? If we stop buying so much stuff manufactured elsewhere and are pay just a little bit more for things manufactured on our half of the globe it would employ our neighbours and inject money into our own communities. I'm going to start looking at the label from now on and buy less stuff. If you know of any baby products you love that are made in the US or Canada, please list them here.
Re: Made in the USA...
Unfortunately I don't know of any baby stuff made in the USA or Canada ...I do however know of some shoes! New Balance has some shoes that are made in the US, and they are AWESOME! My H and I both have 2 or 3 pairs! And a lot of their shoes, the supplies to make them are imported, but assembled in the USA.
