DH's Surgery

Hi all,

Just a quickie update on me. DH had his surgery on his spine yesterday.  He has had issues with tethered spinal cord in the past. Nothing was showing up on a MRI so they had to cut open and do what they called "exploratory surgery" to find out what was wrong.

I was a nervous wreck..especially since the hospital took him from me promptly at 12:30 when they said they would begin his surgery, and his father told me his last surgery that he had 5 years ago for a similar issue only took an hour and a half. So at 4:30 when we heard he was still in surgery I was freaking out! Thankfully, his mother came by and corrected him that last time it was a 4 hour surgery. Still though, it was long and I was nervous. Turns out he had a massive build up of scar tissue encompassing his spinal cord and they had to use a microscope and slowly take it off to release pressure. I can only imagine the pain he was in for so long...

He is recovering well now and should be able to come home by Saturday. I am thankful that this is finally over and now we can focus on healing.

Forced break due to DH getting spinal surgery in August 2011

FET in April 2012 - BFP at 6dp5dt! Beta #1 at 9dp5dt: 82.5, Beta #2 at 12dp5dt: 352 Beta #3 at 19dp5dt: 6000, saw heartbeat and one little bean at 5W6D!
After nearly 3 years of waiting our LO was born December 18th 2012!

    Prayers for a speedy recovery.  I hope that removing the scar tissue helps with his pain and he can pain free going forward.  Hugs!

    Dx: DH - Azoo, Me - Mild PCOS
    DH - sperm found! Seems to produce only for a few days every 70 days!
    Over 1 million in cryo in 15 vials over 6 samples
    IVF #1 - 1 beautiful expanded blast transferred, 4 snowbabies - beta #1 11/30/11 = BFFN
    FET #1, transfered 2 embies 2/16/12 = BFFN; 1 snowbaby left in cryo
    IVF #2 + CGH = 4 genetically normal embies on ice. FET September 26th
    SAIF/PAIF always welcome

    That's great that the surgery went so well, and I hope your DH has a speedy recovery!

    I can imagine how nervous you must have been.  H broke his neck and had to have some pins and rods put in a few years back. The waiting was horrible, but he says recovery from his bone graft on his wrist was way worse than that recovery.  Hope your H has similar results. Sending lots of thoughts and juju for a speedy recovery and relief for your H!

    T&P to you and your DH.  I hope he has a speedy recovery.
    TTC since 3/07. IVF#1 = canceled. IVF#2 = 0% fertilization. IVF#3 = BFN. IVF#4 = c/p.  
    Moving forward with Adoption 2017!

    March 2011: Diagnosed with PCOS
    First cycle 3/11: 50mg Clomid = No response
    Second cycle 4/11: 100mg Clomid = No response
    Third cycle 5/11: 2.5mg Femara + 150IU FSH CD7 and 8 = Follies, but BFN
    Fourth cycle 6/11: Femara + FSH again = Follies, but no ovulation and another BFN :(
    Fifth cycle 7/11: Femara + FSH again = Wait and see!
