I know it's different for everyone, but I would appreciate your wisdom on this.
With DD, my water was broken by my OB in the hospital.
I don't know how to handle it if it breaks on its own and trickles out. I wear pantyliners daily now. Do I need to upgrade and carry a couple of maxi pads, or poise pads or something?
ETA: I figure if it breaks in a gush I am pretty much screwed, but supposedly on some women it just leaks out a bit at a time, as you or the baby move around.
Thanks!
Re: Containing water leakage?
That was my fear, too.. and with this heat.. I had NO IDEA what was fluid, sweat, and/ or that other fluid that kept leaking, too..
I started wearing pads only b/c the pantiliners were useless... it was so gross.. also b/c I pretty much had to go to the bathroom everytime I stood up.
For my daughter, my water broke at 2am as I was dreaming of how active she was (she was kicking away and in my dream I was telling someone that..) and I woke up when I felt/heard the "pop"... When it breaks like that.... a maxipad won't help.. it is a GUSH. But.. if it trickles... pads might help.
Same here...no advice as my water didn't break (my OB broke it).
But towards the end I was afraid I was leaking amniotic fluid because (yeah, TMI) my panties were constantly wet--it was like a lot of watery cervical mucus. REALLY gross. It wasn't amniotic fluid (doctor checked at my 39 week appt.) but it kept freaking me out. I was wearing pads (the thin Always ones) at the end.
Whenever I read a book or saw a movie with a person's water breaking, she usually put a wadded up towel under her in the car ride to the hospital. I don't think a pad will contain it.

Keep a towel handy. A big one.
My water broke while I was sitting on the bed talking to the doc. It's a blurr now, but I think hubby ran and got a towel and got the sheets off the bed ASAP so it didn't soak the mattress.
Nasty.
