Pregnant after IF

Friend with IF...not sure what to tell her

I have a close friend who knows what IF issues we went and through confided in me about her IF issues. They are different than mine and I am not sure what to tell her...

MFI- 18 mil, poor quality, don't swim straight?

She has one tube blocked- all labs normal for her

Anyone go through something similar?

Re: Friend with IF...not sure what to tell her

  • Is she looking for advice or just support?  I think I'd just tell her the same thing you wanted to hear when you were going through it ... that you're sorry she has to deal with it and you're there to help her in any way you can.

It's so hard because while we're all dealing with IF, it's all for various reasons.

  • We had MFI, same morph issues but a lower count (about 9 mil).  We needed IVF-ICSI.  Not sure what they would do about the one tube blocked.

Thanks, we didn't have MFI so I was not sure what route she would have to take. Ive been talking her through everything but had no clue what her RE would suggest for her situation.

  • given those numbers and her blocked tube...  IVF w/ICSI is probably their best bet.    We were MFI low-count, but I had no issues (as far as testing revealed).   So we tried 3 IUIs, but none of them worked.    I'm glad we did them, because I wanted to try the least invasive measures first, but we had success as soon as we turned to IVF.    With low count (not to mention a blocked tube), just getting egg to meet sperm might be all they need help with.   good luck to them!
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.
