carpal tunnel

I think I'm getting carpal tunnel in my right wrist from carrying, chasing, walking, picking up, putting down, and just trying to keep up with M 24/7 over the past few weeks. Anyone had this before? How did you make it better?

I hurt :(

I hurt the big padded muscle part of my thumb while moving a few years ago - I was carrying some couch cushions on top of every thing else and I must have been gripping them funny.

What helped me was resting it - real easy with a baby I know.  I got a wrist/hand brace from Walgreens and took double doses of Advil for the inflammation.

    Good luck!

  • I have it too.  you have to stretch out your wrist and take a break from moving it like, every hour.  It's hard because I do a lot of computer work (and also a lot of computer shenanigans like the bump, haha) which worsens it

  • I have DeQuervains... aka mommy thumb. What part of your wrist hurts? Mine was along the thumb side and hurt with almost every movement! I tried a brace with thumb splint, but can't do anything with it on! I've ended up with cortisone shots. GL! These damn kids mess everything up!! LOL

  • If you have pain, there could be any number of things going on.  Carpal tunnel traditionally is caused by repetitive movements over a long period of time.  Could be all the activity with your LO is causing a flare-up, or there could be something else going on with your hand/wrist (tendonitis, mommy's thumb, etc.)

I have carpal tunnel, and when I have a flare-up of pain, I know I have to wear my splints.  I have soft ones to wear during the day so I can still work on the computer, and stiff ones I wear while sleeping.  Sometimes this helps after a few days, and sometimes the flare-up lasts for several weeks, it just depends.

If you're having pain, think about seeing the doc.  Sometimes it's better to address it earlier, rather than later.
