Settle a Debate

So DW and I are having a bit of a silly debate. We have only have one comforter and our dryer has been acting crazy and it was not dry before we went to bed last night so I grabbed the two smaller extra blankets we have (one in the linen closet and one in Ky's room on the rocking chair from when we did the middle of the night thing) for us to use...so that was one blanket each.

One of us had the best sleep ever because there were not blanket sharing issues. The other slept like poo because the seperate blankets forced us to be completey apart from the other. So obviously there is a discrepancy on whether or not to keep two speperate blankets or go back to one large one.

So I want to know how do you hanbdle the blanket thing? Of course if you are bed sharing please go back to pre-baby times when there was not an extra person in the mix lol...

Re: Settle a Debate

  • We have sort of the same issue. Our solution that has worked magically is:

One large comforter that goes over both, and then DW has a separate sheet under the comforter. If I, being the blanket hog that I am, take all the cover, DW still has her sheet. AND it helps with temp issues as well, as she gets super hot at night.

  • I should have stated there is always a sheet that we share as well. SO while it is a valid solution I think that route has already been explored lol.

  • I've never thought about putting another sheet on the bed for me! That's a pretty awesome idea lol

J takes all of the comforter which normally isn't a problem since I get extremely hot at night, and she stays cold. It doesn't help that she loves to snuggle so add her body heat to the mix and I'm damn near having a heat stroke.

But we used an old satin (I think..) comforter from when I was in high school because we needed one for a night and it kept me cooled down and kept her very warm at the same time..

2mommies- I don't know what you should do LOL we just share one...

  • Having seperate blankets sounds kind of lonely.  Maybe try getting a bigger blanket?  Like if you have a queen bed, buy a king blanket.  Blanket hogging is no fun.  :)

  • We have one sheet and one blanket. L typically tosses off the blanket and I have an extra blanket that I put over my side since I am always cold. But we are in the camp of sleeping on our own side of the bed and not touching while sleeping. ;)

  • SO after two awesome nights of sleep on my part (since DW is the blanket hog!) I am going back to the one large comforter on the bed (which is already a size larger than our bed lol). I might try the double sheet thing though. When I first read that response I thought you just meant one sheet but now I get it so I will try an extra. I think our issue is DW loves it chilly in the house when she sleeps so she has to cover up but then it gets TOO cold in the middle of the night and she steals all the blankets! Thanks for the suggestions and we shall see what works!
