I delivered at Piedmont. I liked it because it was large enough to have a great NICU yet small enough that I didn't feel like a number. In fact I was hospitalized for two weekends a month and a half before I delivered and when I had my c-section, both nurses that were there had taken care of me when I was in earlier.

I had my dd at Atlanta Medical Center, which I would only recommend if you want to go with midwives or have a water birth. I have visited friends at both Piedmont and Northside and they both seem nice.

I did Piedmont. I liked that it has an extensive L&D & NICU but isn't the baby factory that Northside is....felt a bit more personal and hands-on Also, the food is AWESOME!!!
I have a ton of friends who have been at Northside though and all had great experiences. Does your OB not have a preference?
I delivered at Northside, and I highly recommend them. I thought every single person (from the doctors right down to the cleaning ladies) was exceptionally helpful and kind. I thought the care was excellent, and I never felt like a number. The rooms are so private, and the halls are so quiet. It is impossible to believe that there is anyone else even having babies. I honestly thought it felt kind of like a hotel. Good luck with your choice!
I had both my boys at Northside even through I live closer to Piedmont. My OBs are up there and I didn't want to switch. I had a great experience with Bailey my first son. The nurses were wonderful, LCs were great and overall it was good. I had to spend a weekend there and then another week in the high risk unit at 24 and 27 wks. I can't say enough good things about the high risk unit at Northside. HOpefully you won't need that through.
With my 2nd son just 15 months after having my 1st son, I didn't really need much from the nurses or LCs except my pain meds. I only had issues one night with a nurse who wasn't doing things right. Other then that it was a good experience.
I delivered at Piedmont, my SIL delivered at Northside. Piedmont has better food, Northside has slightly bigger/nicer rooms. I loved the lactation consultants at Piedmont and liked how things were a bit more intimate size wise at the hospital. Both are great facilities.
I delivered at Crawford Long (I refuse to call it Emory Midtown). It's not very big, but it's one of the newest L&D centers in the city. I really liked my nurses. The food was so-so, but it's midtown so I usually just asked DH to bring me food. The postpartum rooms are not big, but that wasn't really an issue for us.
To me, their biggest fault is that they don't have a lactation center. They do have LCs but not many and you have to push to get one.
I'm a big fan of Kennestone. Especially if you plan to BF, I don't think you can find better support than Kennestone. The LC's were awesome in the hospital and even after I came home. Also, DS spent some time in their NICU and that was an amazing experience as well. Just something else to consider!

This. I had such a great experience I didn't want to leave. I wanted all of them to be my sisters and come live with me.
I had both my children at Piedmont and had a great experience both times.
FWIW, Piedmont offers something called the Waters Pavilion. It runs around $600/night, but you get a two-room suite with a pull-out couch and a full guest bathroom, meals for you plus one guest, and afternoon tea. DH and I figured it was as close to a nice vacation as we were going to get that year, so we splurged on it both times and it was SO worth it.
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
