Does your LO wear an ID bracelet??

I was at the zoo yesterday and there was a kid who was lost--probably around 6 yrs old or so.  He was having a hard time giving his info to the police officer. It got me thinking that my 3 yr old doesn't speak at all--he can't say his name, address, etc (has a severe speech delay).

If something were to happen---no one would know anything about him---or who to contact, etc.  PLUS he has food allergies, so that might be something worth putting on an ID.

I was curious if anyone has their LO wear an ID bracelet and if so, where did you get it?   I guess 30 yrs ago my mom had my brother wear one all the time because he was an escape artist LOL.

  • She does not. I guess I like to think I can keep a good enough eye on her but you bring up a good point!

  • DD#1 knows all her info.

DS and DD#2... not yet.  When they get into the threes class they will go on fieldtrips, so if DS (also speech delayed) doesn't talk yet or not enough to give his info, I will then.  Otherwise, I don't allow them with anyone who I think might lose them.  I take them into the community daily and am wicked strict about staying close. I hope by beating into their little heads they will have the compliance with the sitter or my husband.

I think I would be more inclined to do iron ons inside his shirt or shoe tags.  My kids wrestle and that could hurt.

  • No, but I have seen temporary tattoos that you can write on that have space for an emergency phone number (your cell would work) that would be great for those kinds of outings.

  • We are debating getting some type of bracelet when we are in the airport in a few weeks. I haven't found one that i like yet.

Have you seen the allermate bracelets? A daycare that we photograph (I work at a professional photography studio) insists on them for the kids with allergies. They are pretty cute! https://home.allermates.com/

  • DD does not.  I did as a kid, so every once in awhile I think about it.  She also has a peanut allergy, so I have debated getting something that covers both.  I will probably get her something eventually.

This is what I've thought of doing for DS now that he doesn't necessarily like to always hold one of our hands or sit in the stroller.  Plus he thinks temporary tattoos are pretty cool.  And you don't have to put LO's name on it either.
