Never know how to answer this question

After IVF we we're thrilled to find out I'm pregnant with (fraternal) twins. Now, whenever we tell people that I'm having twins, their first question is always "Do they run in your family?"

Usually I just say no (and sometimes add that it actually isn't hereditary). But then there's always this awkward silence, and I can SEE the wheels turning in their head, wondering if we had fertility treatments. I'm so sick of that weird lull in the conversion, it happens all the time.

With people we know well I usually tell them we did IVF, but I'd rather not have everyone we meet know.

Has anyone else noticed this, or found a good way to deal?

When I used to lurk over on Multiples while doing treatments, I saw the ladies there have a few standard comebacks to that question. My favorite was "They do now!" or "Yep, they run all over the place!" -- obviously that one only works after they're toddlers. Might want to post over there and ask for some of their comebacks.
