Giving DH "New Daddy Gift" after birth?

I am planning on getting DH a congratulatory "new daddy gift" after the baby is born, but i don't want to get him a T-shirt since he has millions (but it would be a cute momento)...I'm not getting him a diaper bag just for him b/c he'll never use it...he doesn't read, so i'm not getting him a "how to be a good daddy" book...picture frames are an option, but we have tons...then i was thinking about getting a gift certificate for a portrait session as a family when the baby gets here, but that would be a gift for both of us and i wanted to get him something special...

anyone have any good ideas for me???

i gave my DH a few things: a shirt that says Daddy, a cigar, and two outfits for LO that are for his favorite sport teams. He was really excited about all of it.

I was going to get a daddy shirt and for fathers day I gave him a guy diaper bag which he loved!! At the hospital I was going to get him cigars and a congrats daddy card.

I will be giving my DH the "New Daddy" Willow figurine. It will fit nicely with our collection. ;0) Throughout the pregnancy, I have also given him (as surprises) two picture frames (I love my daddy and daddy and me), as well as some detroit tigers onesies.

After DD was born DH wrote letters to each of us and framed them, it was all about our first day as a new family. I keep mine on my dresser and DD's on a shelf in her room. You could do something like that.

How about a burp cloth with his favorite sports team on it? You could also get rattles, bibs, etc all with his team stuff.

I got DH a frame that said "New Daddy" on it and have a pic in it now of DH in the hospital holding DD - it's sweet.

I'm combing our 1-year anniversary gift with a daddy-gift since our due date is one day after our anniversary. This isn't a typical gift since it's pretty pricey, but he has wanted a digital SLR camera for a LONG time, and I can't imagine a better time to give him one since we'll need to take lots of pictures of our new addition! Plus, it will give him something to play with at the hospital.

I know you said no book for your DH, but that IS what I got mine. lol. It's something about Fathers and Daughters and how to raise little girls. I'm excited to give it to him. He loves reading and his little girl already has him wrapped around her finger.

For you, I think the gift certificate is a good idea or a really nice "Daddy" frame.

After my DS was born I gave my DH a onesie that had a picture of his beloved truck that said 'My Daddy's Truck is Faster Than Your Daddy's', and he loved it....this time I don't have anything.

I'm afraid my "New Daddy" gift is going to be pretty practical... we just moved into a new home and the previous owner ripped out the built-in BBQ, much to DP's disappointment. I'm buying him a new grill.

I am not getting anything but I've gotten him baby gifts for father's day and his b-day. Mainly, it's just been bibs or outfits that say "I love daddy" and that sort of thing. I don't think you could go wrong with that. I'm also getting him a jogging stroller, but not til Christmas.

I really like the portrait session idea. Even if you have a ton of picture frames, you could still get a "daddy" frame or one for a picture and a handprint.

I'm getting him an "I heart Daddy" mug. He asked how it's fair that he gets a mug and I'm getting a diamond bracelet... I said, well, I'm doing all of the work so I get the better present!

However, I'm also going to get him an IPad 2 for his birthday in September.

We have each picked a push gift...my husband has been wanting to work out more and constantly brings up a work out bench. That is what he will be getting. What ever makes him feel better, right?
