Does anyone have a DSLR camera?!

If so . . .which one do you have, and do you like it? I need something that is beginner friendly.

  • TheNest has a photography board and the ladies there are really nice and know a ton! I'm sure they would have some great information. I want a DSLR so bad, but I've been trying to practice on my Nikon before I take the plunge on such a large purchase.

  • I just recently bought the Cannon rebel T2I, though I am a novice even I can take fantastic pictures with it. I wish I had it since he was a newborn. I feel like the expense is worth it because there isnt any need to go to a professional photographer anymore. Sure there are tons of buttons and features that I have no clue how to use but it comes with an auto focus option and in beginning thats all you really need.

  • We have 2, an XTi and a 40D (Canon). We love them :) We also have about a bunch of lenses, too.
    I married a ginger.

  • We have the Nikon D3100 and LOVE it.

We get fantastic pictures no matter what the subject. We needed something that could get clear pictures of our chinchillas (fast-moving and hard to photograph), as well as pictures of DD (of course!) and photos for my job (reporter).

     No complaints here.

  • We have the Canon Rebel.  I like it- it takes great shots.  I highly recommend pairing it with the Rebel for Dummies book- it's taught me quite a bit.

     This. Yes

I have the D3000 as well, but I don't love it. It's not the cameras fault I just don't know how to use it correctly. It seems like the pictures come out really dark. They are really clear and in focus, but just dark unless outside. I really need to take a class to learn how to use it. I also may need a new len or flash, but after spending nearly $1000 (with bag, stand, memory cards, etc. ) for this one I don't see us spending anymore on it for a while.

  • I am a complete novice, but I constantly steal H's DSLR. I took the picture of LO in my sig below, she's with the cat.

Do you shoot in manual or auto?  If you haven't mastered aperture and shutter speed and how they work together, that's probably why they're dark.  I still struggle with finding the perfect balance sometimes.

  • I have the Canon T1i and I like it! I will admit that I haven't really read as much as I need to so that I can "get to know" the camera but I am slowly getting there.
