Has anyone used this? I'm thinking about switching from Enfamil AR to this. DD is doing better but still seems really unhappy when she eats, like she gets a sour stomach. My intuition says to try it. What was your experience or what have you heard? How do the poops turn out? AR seemed to clog her up for a little while.
TIA mamas

We supplement with Nutramigen (dairy free-BM otherwise) - its hypoallergenic and for babies with milk protein sensitivity. This formula, along with competitor version Similac Alimentum, has the milk proteins already broken down so that a sensitive baby can easily digest it.
Nutramigen would be a choice over Prosobee if your LO is also sensitive to soy - there is an increased possibility that if your LO has a milk protein sensitivity that there may also be a soy sensitivity/intolerance.
Signs of a milk protein intolerance are bloody stools (may be undetectable to naked eye - there is a simple test that can be done in your pedis office - bring a fresh poop diaper in a ziploc if you want to take it that far), body/face rash or eczema, fussiness and tummy trouble - excessive gas, bloating, explosive frequent and watery stool, and congestion/wheezing. Talk to your pedi and see if you can get a free sample to try so you're not buying a ton of different formulas trying to find the right one.
A friend's LO is lactose intolerant and had colic - she did excellent on the similac sensitive ready to feed.

It was my understanding that Nutramigen is NOT milk-based as someone posted before me. Regardless, we have our daughter on this, after EBFing and trying 3 formulas so I could quit BFing, and she is a completely different baby. She is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! Her stools happen once a day (the formula seems to have regulated her), but they are stinky and thick and green.
Ask your pediatrician about either getting a diagnosis for a milk allergy to see if the formula purchases could be used towards a health savings plan if you have one. If not, definitely ask for samples.
From Enfamil site: "If your baby has an allergy to the cow's milk protein in infant formula, Nutramigen with Enflora LGG has both an extensively broken down protein and the probiotic LGG*. Together, they help manage cow's milk allergy to help babies feel better faster."
It's cow's milk...just "pre-digested" for baby so LO doesn't suffer in breaking it down herself.

DS has been on Nutramigen for the last 4 months and it's worked wonders for his colic and acid reflux. It smells like catfood and it's expensive but it's definatley worth it! DS is a much happier baby on it, but it took him a day or two to get used to it. Poops have been the same with all the formula he's been on (Enfamil: newborn, infant, gentalease, nutramigen). I would definately recommend it.
Our pediatrician said it does have milk proteins in it but it's broken down so that it's easier for babies with sensitive tummies can digest it. DS is lactose intolerant/dairy allergic and does great with it.
