Nursery Slacker...

Am I the only procrastinator out there??!?! Yesterday I decided I should begin the nursery cleanout, it is currently my craft room. So I started throwing stuff out, creating a garage sale pile and a craigslist/ebay pile. My desk and the unit behind it will be moved into the guest bedroom for now (until we decide we want baby #2). But NOW all I want is to get everything moved so we can set up baby furniture that is being stored in our garage and guest bedroom!! And I want to organize the closet, we don't have much stuff so it's mostly in a bag on the closet floor. I am anxious to have it all done!

Re: Nursery Slacker...

  • I have a problem. I think it's OCD....my nursery is done. All I have left to do is organize everything that comes in form now until baby is here. I"m an uber planner

  • Our nursery is currently the craft room too! We live in a 2 bedroom condo so I don't have anywhere else to put my stuff, but I will be condensing, so baby is just going to have to share.

I haven't made much headway as far as cleaning out the room yet, but we do have the nursery furniture and bedding.

Maybe that will be my task for the evening!

  • Only started this week with the painting and fixing up of the room.  It will also be our guestroom so I am also working on condensing things to keep the room light, airy, and clutter free :)

  • I started emptying out our nursery room and ordered curtains to get started but that's it so far!  I do feel kind of behind but we still have a while it'll get done!

We've had that heat too here in Oklahoma. Maybe that's what motivated me. I don't even want to go outside and there's never anything good on tv so what else did I have left to do...? I even put together all the furniture myself because I didn't want to wait on my husband to do it. He is a heat and air tech and he's been working his ass off all summer.

  • I haven't started either, but won't be able to until I move at the end of the month. We have a crib but that plus our mountain bikes and a couple other things have completely filled up the second bedroom in our apartment. I will be glad when we get moved into a 3 bedroom house.

  • No nursery yet here - the crib and dresser will be in our second bedroom, currently my office, which is stuffed with Rubbermaid containers filled with the inventory from the stationery store I closed about six months ago. And to clear that out, we need to build some shelving in our bedroom and the garage. And to do that, we need to get rid of some older furniture and some junk in the garage. And, perhaps most importantly - we need IKEA to restock their cribs! :)
  • I haven't done anything yet either, I haven't even bought anything, mostly because we are moving at the end of the month, and I don't want to move more stuff to the new home Smile, but I am not sure I would have started anyway as I don't want to start to early.

  • My brother and his gf are coming to visit us for the first half of September and the current guest room will become the nursery. So right now we haven't started, but after they leave it's on! Big Smile

  • we have done pretty much nothing. I'm thinking we will turn 1/2 our master into a "nursery"-our master is a 2 room suite-since we need the guestroom for visiting family after LO is born. I have a crib in a box....it will get set up eventually!

  • We just started with the nursery two weeks ago and so far just have paint on the wall and the crib put together. Still need to figure out curtains and get the rest of my furniture (glider/ottoman, undamaged changing table) in. Once all the furniture is here I should be able to pick up the pace some :)

  • We have plenty of time!!  I just cleared out the room this past weekend.  My husband just spent 8 months finishing our basement.  He is going to take a month off and then we will begin nursery work.  Afterall, if you are planning on having the baby in your room for a while, you have until maybe Feb-Mar....Just sayin.

  • I'm so not comfortable with the thought of an empty nursery in my house.  After my loss I really cannot get myself excited about setting it up (despite my type A, control-freak personality).  LO is going to stay in our room for the first few months so other than the dresser we need to move in from IL's (and endtables we need to move out there to make space) and the PNP LO will sleep in, I'm in absolutely no rush.  I think if I get the dresser in before snow flies, I will be in good shape.  There is plenty of time.  PNP will not be set up until Dec 1 (and if LO decides to show up early, it's a PNP, so like 2 seconds to set up!!!!
  • I haven't even begun and probably won't until after our shower. In the next few weeks we will remove the desk, guest bed, and clean the closet. Then we will start setting up the crib, etc. in September or October (once I can shampoo the carpet).

  • I haven't started my nursery yet, but not by choice.  Baby was being shy on the ultrasound, and my next one is in 2 weeks.  Once we can see if we're having a boy or a girl, I'll probably go crazy decorating the nursery and buying things.  If I'd have had it my way, it would be painted already, with the crib ordered and the bedding purchased.  But I'm a little zealous...lol.
  • Thank you so much for posting because I was feeling like a bad mama for not really having anything ready yet. All I have in there is a dresser and the aquarium (which I still plan on giving a make-over to). I am making a lot of the stuff for the nursery (blanket, bumpers, curtains and am painting some little shelves that are going in there). However, all I have done are an afghan and a quilt. :S

The room is filled with teaching stuff that I really should organize and kind of looks like a junk room at the moment. I just keep telling myself that there isn't much I can do until after our ultrasound on Thursday. I'm too much of a control freak to be on team green, though I think it's totally awesome when people are! (I envy their self control.) I am also thinking that maybe some things should wait until after the shower too. Most of all, my step dad said he was going to get us the nursery furniture and you can't really get too much done without it. He's kind of a last minute man, so I don't know when I will have that. My mother in law bought a bassinet when I got to week 12, but that's in AL and I'm just outside of Chicago so it's nowhere near here either. I just hope this bun bakes long enough for me to get everything set up. ;)

  • I have done nothing at all the room is still full of crap, nothing is ordered, or picked out. I will start working on it next month when DH gets home. Nothing wrong with waiting we did not do DS room till I was close to 30 weeks and he came at 35. These little ones will be here in Oct or Nov and I am not stressing yet at all.

  • Our landlord is having a room added to our apartment, and that will be the nursery. It won't even start to be built until October. So yea, I'm a nursery slacker too!

  • I'm not in any rush at all. The second bedroom still has random stuff in it from our move. The only baby stuff is the infant seat, a box of cloth diapers and a few clothes. I'm still saving money into the Baby Stuff fund and don't really plan to buy much of anything until October at least.

DH is working crazy long hours right now, so I'd rather start all that stuff once he's back to normal hours and can help out and be involved.

Oh, and baby's room will have just clothes and baby stuff in it probably until at least next spring or summer, so I'm in no rush to make it perfect. I'm not one to waste my energy like that (aka lazy Wink)
