My DD has her first allergist appointment on Thursday. I was wondering what I should expect from this appointment. I know they'll take her history and probably do an exam. We were told no antihistamines for 72 hours so I am assuming they will also do a skin test. She had a RAST done a few months ago (negative) by her GI, but it tested the top 8 allergens and she hasn't been exposed to the majority of those things ever - not even milk or soy due to complex GI issues. Would they order additional blood testing to test for the things she has shown reactions to in the past? About how long does the testing/1st appointment take? She is 18 mos old.
Thank you!
Re: Allergy Appointment ?
Family history, health history for your little one, and I'd almost guarantee a skin test. My lo had a blood test ordered by the pedi before we went. I wouldn't imagine the appt itself would be more than an hour or so. Good luck!!
