we haven't had any blood drawn, except for when he was sick with a bad virus. i think they did a finger prick a very long time ago, like maybe 6 months or something like that, but no other blood work from the arm or anything like that.
it's awful, we had to do it when he was sick about a month or two ago and it was pure H*LL
My girls are almost 19 months and haven't had any bloodwork done either. I meant to ask at their 18 month appointment, but it was chaos and I forgot. I'm guessing because my girls eat well-balanced meals and I have no concerns about their diet, eating habits or energy levels, the doctor assumes they're getting enough iron.
They do a blood draw at the 12 month appt only if you live in a house that is old enough to have potentially had lead paint at some point. I forget the cut off. Ours is around 60 years old so we had it done. Prior to that DS had only had blood taken when he was a newborn because of his jaundice.
ETA: Be glad you didn't have to do it because they start taking it from the arm at that point and it was awful.
DD is 20 months and has only had blood drawn once (it was by mistake) but she has had her finger and heel pricked. The only reason DD had blood drawn was because her finger prick came back high in lead; the pedi's machine was broken. Of course they did not discover that it was broken until after we had her blood drawn and worried about it for over 24 hours.
Re: 18 months and no blood tests so far?!
