Poll: all about mattresses!

Super exciting topic, I know Smile

We're on the hunt for a good quality but reasonably priced mattress for Kyva's BGB. We got her a trundle bed so she'll actually need 2, but I care more about the top one since the trundle will just be used occasionally. We'll probably get an inexpensive foam mattress for the trundle. So I ask you:

If your DC is in a big kid bed:

What mattress did you buy and what made you choose it? Where did you purchase it? Do you mind sharing what you spent?

And just for funsies:

What mattress do you have for your own bed? Do you love it? Why or why not?

Now I want a nap Sleep

Re: Poll: all about mattresses!

  • We recently bought a mattress for Lucas at Costco.  It was a Sealy...I can't remember the exact model of it.  It was about $299, I think.  It's super comfortable.

  • Thanks L, I hope he's enjoying his new big boy bed. I was hoping to look at Costco.

  • We got Aaron's at ikea.  Their mattresses were reasonably priced (similar to costco) and they have a 25 warranty.  I can't remember exactly how much it was, but we only got the mattress (not the box spring) due to the bed Aaron has.  I know it was in the Sultan line and think it was about $150.

We have a sleep number bed and LOVE it.  It's so nice to be able to adjust the firmness, especially during pregnancy, and Z likes a much firmer bed than I do.

  • Baz's mattress came from ikea. It's the sultan and it's about $100.

Our is a sealy that we bought when we bought the bed 6 years ago. It's decent.

  • We just bought Andrew the mattress only twin option from Costco (normally 149, on sale for $119 Big Smile).  He definitely loves it because we took a kid whom since about the age of 2 had migrated to out bed about 75% of the nights and now since getting this mattress ( we had an IKEA one before) he's only ended up in our bed twice (in 3 months now) and those were both bad pee accidents where we had to strip his bed all the way down.

DH and I have fallen asleep up there a few times reading him books and it's pretty cozy.  For me, it would probably be too firm for every night but since we now either we'll have guests sleeping on them or we will be we wanted something reasonably comfortable.

We've just recently given up our Costco foam mattress, which we loved.  Now we have an Airloom brand.  It's incredibly comfortable for a non-foam. We just bought a trundle set for Cooper and will be getting two more of the same mattress from Costco.

I'd also suggest getting a set of water proof mattress covers, if you don't already have them.  We do a double wrap on the bed so if there is a pee accident in the middle of the night we can strip the bed and still toss him back in.
