Two Under 2

Double stroller for travel, advice needed. . .

I am not going to have 2 under 2, since DS will be 2 yrs. 3 mo. when Lo #2 is born, but I thought you ladies would know a lot about double strollers.

I am trying to decide between the sit and stand: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4353632

and the double side by side:

I'm open to other models, but these are the first ones I came across with decent reviews. The primary purpose will be to take the stroller on a few trips we have where we are flying and also to go to the zoo, sightseeing etc when we are there. There also may be a trip to Disney in our near future so it needs to be somewhat portable and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg since it will be used primarily for a few trips. I have a BOB for around home, but it is much too big for travel. Any advice on which is best for travel, folding and maneuvering?

  • If I were you, I'd travel to the destination and rent a stroller while you're there, especially if your LO isn't big on riding in the stroller a lot when you're at home. There are many baby gear rental companies and you can rent what best suits your needs. We have never traveled with our stroller (single or double) because it's too much to deal with that and luggage at the airport. We find that it's easier to wear one or both kids in a carrier so that both of us have hands free to deal with luggage/paperwork/diaper bags. When we go to Disney, we rent from Magicstrollers.com and have the stroller delivered and picked up at our hotel.

However, if you do want to buy something to travel with, I'd recommend the City Mini Double because it's super compact and great for folding into small spaces.

  • If you are going to disney I'd rent one. There are several places you can rent double BOBs or double city minis for not very much. They deliver them to the hotel and pick them up when you leave. Very nice and clean.

  • We got a maclaren twin techno on Craigslist for $50.  We have not flown with it, but we did take a trip driving and are so happy to have it.  And for $50 - I am not worried too much about if it gets beat up, etc.

Definitely check out your local craigslist if you want to buy something just to travel with!
