I am not sure if this is the correct board or not, but I have a question. If this is not the right board could you tell me where I should be? We have been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years now. We both have issues, I don't ovulate and have to move on to the specialist. We checked my husbands sperm 1st before I went to the specialist to make sure everything was ok with him and everything that could be wrong was wrong. He has a 350,000 when it should be 40 million. and his swimmers dont swim at all. When we got the results yesterday at the urologist he told us he didnt want to sugar coat it and that it doesnt look good. He gave my DH Clomid to try for 3 months, then we go back for another SA to see if the meds worked at all. Does anyone have anything like this going on? Did Clomid help your DH? If so, did IVF work for you? What was the percentage of the IVF working. I know everyone has different issues so it is hard to answer those questions, but any info would be great.

Re: Question
You might want to check Trouble Trying to Conceive or Infertility as that's where many of us came from.
Our diagnosis was also severe MFI (Male Factor Infertility). We did 2 rounds of IVF and were successful on the second (although this pregnancy isn't going super well at the moment but that's not a reflection of our diagnosis).
We did not do clomid or anything like that. The percentage of IVF working has a lot of variables. Your RE's success rate, your age, quality of embryos, etc.
Good luck!

Ditto KC's suggestion regarding TTTC or IF boards. The IF board has an MFI check in (or at least they used to) which may be helpful for you as you navigate through the world of REs.
Most of us have our "history" in our siggies -- everyone's journey is different, but chances are that there is someone who has encountered something similar.

Sorry you're dealing with this!
The bad news about MFI is that in even moderate cases, you usually need IVF. The good news is that once you do IVF - you only need a handful of good sperm! Our counts were as low as the 800,000 range, and we had success with IVF w/ICSI on our first try (twice!). DH never tried clomid, but it was never suggested to us, either.
IVF w/ICSI can have success rates of up to 60%, but a lot of that depends on your age and what your diagnosis is. I would recommend getting to an RE as soon as you can .
Good luck!
Because we're fancy like that.
