Our u/s tech yesterday told us that you can never be sure with a girl because it could be a boy and not everything is in the exact right place to be picked up. She told us we are team pink but then said "but if you paint the room pink and out pops a boy you can't come back here to get us to pay for the repaint".
I saw the picture and it really looks like a girl but I am still a little nervous...any other Momma's hear the same thing?

A friend at work was told she was having a girl only to find out at birth it was indeed a boy. She had a lot of pink to return.
I'm honestly a little afraid of this and am hoping our fetal echo at 23 weeks gives us another firm girl/girl result. I'm keeping reciepts for everything!
I actually have this issue. My ultrasound tech said that he was 90% sure baby is a girl. He said because she wouldn't spread her legs baised on a butt shot alone he felt comfortable saying girl.
We are gonna go with it but a little nervious because my dr wont give me another u/s.
And don't forget the very very slight chance that there could be an "abnormality" with the parts...
I was at my sister's u/s when they told her they were 75% sure she was a girl. They then went and got a 3D done later on and the tech then guessed 99% girl, but they also found issues with her kidneys and too much fluid in her stomach... well she was born with ambiguous genitalia. They actually had to do DNA testing and weren't 100% sure my niece was a girl until 48 hours later when the results came back. I don't know all the details because I haven't asked for them, but from what my sister has told me, she was born with some kind of abnormal (maybe enlarged?) clitoris and her anus and vagina were not developed correctly. Basically her whole waste and reproductive organs were atypical. They missed that on the many follow-up u/s she had to monitor her kidneys and stomach. So yeah, it is possible to miss stuff going on down there. They really don't focus on it much in a medical sense, they just look and take a guess only if you want to know.
Oh, and my niece is doing great, she had an 10 hour surgery to correct everything and her kidneys are doing ok. They just aren't as efficient as a normal baby's, but she is still very healthy. Thank God!
Ours was pretty obvious at the a/s that it was a girl - 3 very clear lines. We saw them several times, so I'm confident it's a girl. The tech didn't waiver in the slightest and put "It's a girl" on the pic. I guess while she was taking all the measurements, she saw the sex several times before she told us (and she didn't tell us until the end!), and she said it was the same every time she looked.
My brother (who's now 38 mind you) was thought to be a girl until he was born. I think that was more due to his heart rate or something but also the u/s. So yes, as PPs mentioned it can happen, but I think if you get a good shot it can be pretty clear.
I am so glad to hear your niece is doing great Fletcha!! They did check LO's kidneys and bladder, the bladder and kidneys all looked "just perfect" and the bladder had a little fluid in it but not a lot, she said sometimes they see them completely full.
I just called and booked our 3D/4D ultrasound for Thursday
I just had my a/s yesterday and the first thing the tech looked for was the gender. She didn't see the obvious boy part so she said it's probably a girl. I was happy to probably be having a girl but disappointed that it was just a guess, we have no plans for any additional ultrasounds. Later during the scan, she got a better shot and saw three lines and said it was a girl...but I'm still a little nervous that she could be wrong.

I would have doubts if we hadn't seen the three lines but on both the gender ultrasound at 18 weeks and our a/s at 22 weeks we got several very clear shots of those three lines and between the legs. There was definitely no turtle hiding...
So I'm confident it's a girl.
I was told something similar. Although I went in being extremely cautious. Two (of the 3) ladies I work with had ultrasound issues. One was living in a different state at the time. She was told a boy, prepped for everything blue and out came a little girl. Needless to say, shortly after giving birth she sent her husband to the store for baby name books because they hadn't planned at all for a girl. With the other woman, the tech couldn't determine if it were a boy a girl.
I have heard -- and our tech also said -- that it's more common for people to believe it's a girl and then come to find out it's a boy.
So when I went for my A/S last week, the tech said "it's a safe bet" it's a girl. She then maneuvered around and got a pretty clear shot showing the three lines.
I'm extra paranoid/nervous given my co-workers experiences, but by the time we left our tech seemed confident she's a girl. I suppose only time will tell for sure though...
