Switched OBs at 37weeks and he's TERRIBLE!!

God what a mess.  We moved at 32 weeks so I switched obs then, found out that she doesn't deliver ?!?! So I had to swich again, had our first appt yesterday, and he was an hour and half late with NO explanation.  No appologies from the staff and a curt apology for the "delay" from him.  Hi, no, a delay is 15mins, a major f-up is 1.5hrs late(and no he wasn't off delivering, just overbooked).  So they had NO idea why I was there, and they had to switch rooms for me to get my US and GBS test after I told them for the 13th time thats why I was there.

So my current plan is to page him late when I do go into labor so that I pretty much don't have to deal with him for delivery.  Trust me, he is so bad I'd rather have a first year medical student deliver my child than that wet noodle.  I don't really care, I know kiddo will be safe and sound and I pretty much delivered DD without help last time.  Of course with how fast I should go this time(fingers crossed) even if I did page him on time, he won't make it with his timing.

  • Uggggghhh, that would PISS ME OFF! We already have to wait in the rooms alone for like 15-30 before the Dr even sees us. Fail.

  • Well, the good news is you only have a few more weeks of dealing with him.  And, unless you have complications, you'll probably only see him for the last ten minutes of labor.

  • That makes me so mad!  I understand that with an OB they will occasionally be behind due to emergencies (I had to wait an hour the other day because someone was actually delivering, which is understandable), but overbooking is totally inexcusable in my book.  So sorry you have to deal with a dud!
  • That outrages me for you!  Oh my.  Well I guess you won't be recommending him to any friends.  And how did the first OB you switched to not deliver?  That doesn't make sense to me.  Yes, have him paged late.  A med student does sound like a better route.  A med student will at least be on time to keep his/her patients happy:)

  • So frustrating. Yes, occasionally things take longer than planned but the office should keep you updated and offer an explanation, and the Dr himself should acknowledge it.

At my dr, I dont think the on call person has office hours on their "on call" days, even. It works well. Though I usually try to have the first appt of the day so I rarely wait.

On the other hand, where I am working now, the doctors typically run several hours behind schedule and its a systems problem (I dont think the institution cares) and its really disrespectful to the patients. I hate it and am not in a position to do anyting about it.
