Morning sickness is caused by your progesterone levels.
Yeah. I know its a hormonal thing, but it seems like of the people I know, they older they were when they got pregnant the worse the m/s was. I'm just curious if its coincidence and I'm crazy or if its related.

This. I felt absolutely awful for weeks 6-9 and then just so so for weeks 9-12 before my morning sickness let up. I could barely just off the couch or eat anything. Woke up dry heaving every single one of those mornings. Every time I went in for a checkup at weeks 7, 8 and then 12 my levels were almost at the top of the expected range for that week. I was also a pretty petite person pre preg, starting out a 115 lbs. The amount of hormones for my body weight made me feel terrible.
My hormones numbers were extremely high. So high that they were far above anything I could find on those online beta charts for how far along I was. As a result, I was extremely sick for about 16 weeks and now believe that I had hyperemesis. I could barely eat, drink or even move due to extreme nausea and dehydration. And I could not keep any food/drink down. I definitely think my misery was hormone related.
