Hi,
I'm 26, 5'6" and my pre-pregnancy weight was 118. I am 29 weeks right now and have only gained 10 or 11 pounds. The baby is normal size & very active, my blood pressure is good, etc. I walk a lot and am active, but I don't formally exercise and I certainly don't diet - I eat healthy, and as much as I am hungry. Still, the internet says I should have gained 19-26 pounds by now. Have other thin moms gained so little by the start of third trimester?
Thanks!
Re: Weight gain for thin moms?
each pregnancy is different.
Im 5'2 and was 100 pounds when I got pregnant with my first son at 39 weeks I had gained a total of 12 pounds and I gave birth to an extremely healthy little man.
This time around I started off at 100 pounds and I have gained 21 pounds at 31 weeks. I think a lot of it has to do with my appetite at the beginning.
Wow this makes me feel bad..
I was 92 lbs when I got pregnant and 5'2" (way to skinny, I just couldn't gain weight,,I tried) and now I am 30 weeks and weight 131!!!
I'm up around 15-18 pounds. That's pretty normal IMO.
As for your weight gain... as long as your doctor/midwife are not worried, you do not need to worry either. Trust me... weight will start packing on before you know it. You might end up in the 20-25 pound range by the end. As long as you are eating right three times a day (plus a snack or two), then you ought not to worry.

I'm similar to you - 5'6" 116lbs prepregnancy. I've gained 20lbs so far, though.
Unless your doctor is concerned, there is no reason for you to be worried. It sounds like you are taking good care of yourself.

I'm very petite, always have been and this is/was a huge concern for me in both my pregnancies.
With DD1, I was 5'2 and about 100 lbs prepregnancy. I gained the very minimum 22 lbs that my Dr wanted me to gain. I tried so hard to gain more, but I just couldn't. DD1 grew just fine throughout the pregnancy, and I gave birth to a healthy 7 lb 8 oz baby.
This pregnancy, I started out a bit smaller (which I am/was disgusted about) and have only gained about 9 lbs so far. My Dr and I both wish it was more (personally, I wish I had gained about 20 lbs by now) but I'm doing everything I can to gain weight---eating constantly, adding extra calories (including a milkshake made with Boost that's almost 700 extra calories). So far, DD2 is growing right on track, but she's small--all the women in my family are tiny. I have another u/s at the end of the month to check on her growth again, but the MFM who reviewed my u/s said that I'm just not meant to have big babies.
My Dr would like me to gain more between each visit, but is satisfied if I gain anything. She doesn't freak out or lecture me because she knows that I'm trying, but it's still hard to deal with.
You, pre-pregnancy, was the same as I was this pregnancy. I've struggled for years to gain weight---talking with Drs, nutritionists, etc--and they've all said I'm healthy, just very petite.
I would LOVE to have your weight gain!! I struggled gaining 22 lbs with DD1 and it's even harder to gain weight this pregnancy!
