hi ladies...i post on here a lot but you are always a GREAT help!!
last ivf cycle had five 8 cell embryos out of 10
left on day 3 ....day 5 ...one blast left (tested abnormal with
PGD)...no transfer.
gearing up for round 2 with different stims...i go to rma nj (supposed to be great lab) but they only do 5 dt now...i asked about a 3...my doc said he WOULD do it but he STRONGLY urges against it....! they really think the embies on day 3 last time would not have made it either way....i get the logic of both transfer days...
i just get nervous going in again of having the same exact outcome, despite the change in stims...
Re: XP:clinic only does 5dt..is that okay??
I think only doing a 5dt is fine, personally. Unfortunately in some cases that means there may not be embryos to transfer; however, my clinic says that if an embryo doesn't make it to day 5 outside of the body, it won't make it inside the body either. Whether there is data to back it up, I am not sure, but that's what my doctor said.
As a note, I did a 3dt my first time around. Had 1 blast out of 3 embryos make it to day 5 and was frozen. We don't know if it's "normal". The second time around I had 5 embryos and 4 were good on day 5. And that's on the same protocol! I'm currently 8.5 weeks pregnant from the 1 we transferred. So I guess what I'm trying to say is you could have a VERY different cycle, so try not to stress. Day 5 transfers, from what I'm told, tend to weed out more of the embryos with problems.
I wish you tons of luck with this new cycle. You might have a very different outcome

I'm so sorry about your last IVF. I ended up with nothing to transfer on my first IVF b/c of PGD results and it was pretty devastating.
My RE is a big proponent of 5dt so I guess I'm biased b/c I also think if you are using a well qualified lab then the ones that would make it will make it for 5 days. Are you doing PGD again? If so, I don't think you can do a 3dt. I hope you have better luck and like the pp I've heard of many people who have very different responses on the same protocol.
I also went to RMA NJ, and my 5 day got pushed to a 6 day (two of our three were really close, and they wanted to be sure). RMA really believes in waiting until day 5, and I tend to agree. That is not to say that many people don't get pregnant with day3 transfers, but I know they really think its a better sign of it taking if you wait.
