Just tell me what pre-folds to buy!

Why would I want bleached over unbleached? What is pilly? Does it really matter if they are Chinese or Indian?

What works for you? (Yes, I know every baby is different.)

I'm also going to pick up some fitteds and pockets, but I definitely want to try prefolds to save cost. Thanks!

I have the cottonbabies unbleached cotton and I like them just fine. A lot of people on here swear by the GMD prefolds but lets face it cotton is cotton.

I've never noticed a difference in performance from bleach or unbleached, Chinese or Indian. I bought lots of prefolds on Craigslist for cheap. I think as long as they are not Gerber prefolds you will be fine.

I love my GMD bleached prefolds. I also have 12 Chinese prefolds that I bought off of Nicki'sdiapers.com a couple of years ago. The GMDs are more absorbant, but they are both fine.

PS - I don't know what size you are looking for, but I have some very barely used orange edge GMDs for sale if you want to buy them. DS is super chunky.

Unbleached haven't been treated so they are still holding all the natural oils in them. They do seem softer after more washings though. Indian prefolds are fluffier quicker but more fragile that Chinese. Pilling I've never understood why anyone cares. It isn't a nice shirt you're wearing, your baby is peeing and pooping in it. I have both Econobum prefolds, which are thicker and stiffer but work great if you're trifloding and just setting in the diaper, and I also have the unbleached GMD medium sized ones which are so soft, quilty and abosorbent after being prepped. They also work waaaay better than most IMO for wrapping up and pinning or using a Snappi.

I had bummis unbleached for when LO was tiny and bought some GMD unbleached recently. The GMDs are a whole lot softer. I will go GMD with the next LO.
