I know stroller questions get asked all the time, but I tried the search function (which never works) and looked through the last few pages of posts.
I was originally thinking about getting a tandem stroller, but now I'm wondering if SBS isn't the way to go. What SBS do you have that fits through standard doorways? What do you love/hate about it? Is this your only stroller?
I also like the idea of having infant carseats that go directly into the stroller. Do any SBS strollers do that? I know the tandem models I had picked out do that. Or should I just get a DSNG to go with infant carseats.
Thanks so much!

Re: SBS stroller to fit thru doors?
I think most SBSs are designed to go through "standard" 30" doorways, but that doesn't mean that you won't ever have issues with the width while shopping, etc. Most SBSs don't take two carseats and those that do usually require adaptors that will likely cost you more than a DSNG. I am getting a DSNG and SBSs only.
5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first
Thankful for every day
Most SBS will fit thru a standard doorway, but most SBS will not take two infant car seats (makes it wayyyyyy too wide imo).
I did the DSNG and a SBS... I have not regretted my decision. Esp since I was able to sell my DSNG to another MoM (:::hello NicoleBonsai!:::::)
FWIW, Right now I have the Bumbleride Indie Twin and the Combi. Love them both for different reasons.
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
most agree on here is to start with a DSNG for the car seats and then upgrade to your sbs later when they can support themselve better sitting.
We used our DSNG exclusively in the begining and then when D&H were 5 months used BOB for walks and the DSNG for doctor's apts and shopping/ getting around and then by about 6-7 months I just used the BOB. Some people have double umbrella strollers as well. We have a cheapy that someone gave us but never use it. I also have 2 singleton umbrella strollers that we use when DH and I divide and conquer.
I do love my BOB. I find it easy to use and pretty much go everywhere with it when I have both babies.
i have a city select (tandem) and a maclaren twin triumph (sbs). i love both for different reasons but prefer tandem for longer trips out, the mall etc. the only reason i got my maclaren is because i was tired of lugging the city select in and out of my car all the time.
i know most sbs do not take 2 infant seats.
I think strollers are like black heels - you need different pairs for different occasions. The DSNG is a great starter stroller and lets you figure out your stroller lifestyle. We used our DSNG in the beginning, until we got the City Select. The Select is perfect for the grocery, Target, and tight spaces such as parades, festivals, etc. It's not an all-terrain by any means but it's got bigger wheels than an umbrella stroller and handles rougher terrain better than an umbrella would.
I've got an all terrain (City Series) SBS that's good for walks, the park, the pool, etc. I got mine for a steal on CL but I otherwise wouldn't have gotten a jogger/all terrain.
I'm currently in the market for an ultralight SBS like a Mac or a Combi. Something that opens fast for quickie trips into the store, when it's just not worth my time to set up the Select.
Re: your original question, I know the Macs, the Peg Aria Twin, the City Mini and the Combi all fit through standard doorways.
My suggestion: if you have a lot of doors to go through on a regular basis, don't get a side by side.
We lived in an apartment and there's 3 or 4 doors we have to go through to get to the car. I bought a side by side because since the kiddos aren't being carried in their carseats anymore I wanted something cheap just to take them to and from the car. Anyway, we got it, and TECHNICALLY, yes, it did fit through the doors, but with much difficulty and after one day of use we had already bent a couple of the wheels. We returned it for the graco duo glider. If you have a house though and don't plan on doing through lots of doors I would totally go with the SBS because I think they're so cute!
SBS will fit through any door that complies with ADA requirements. We have the BOB Duallie, and love it. It won't fit through the doors inside our house, but no problem with the front door or anywhere we've been in public. We also have a SBS Combi that was a hand-me-down. I haven't seen any SBS that take 2 car seats.
We have a DSNG, which I still prefer for doctor's appts. At almost 8 months, I still use it all the time too. I recommend buying a used one!
IMHO a tandem is much harder to drive - switching to the SBS was a dream
Two SBS strollers that will fit through doorways AND hold two infant carriers are:
1- Stroll Air My Duo
2- Mountain Buggy Duo (currently sold out, but I have found stores online that will ship starting in Sept)
