My family had a condo in Port A until we recently sold it. I now need my Port A fix and don't know where to stay! Please recommend a place less than $200/night with a pool ... on the beach would be ideal, but not necessary. Thanks ladies!!
We went to Port A in June and stayed at the Aransas Princess, which I would not recommend. They don't allow diaper age children in the pool, which I didn't think would be a big deal, but it was. We were also bothered by noise there from the pools on both sides of the building, and had to call down to the front desk, as people where in the pools after hours.
We stayed at Port Royal in May and liked it. Big pools, on the beach, nice condo. Noise wasn't bad at all...only issue was if people were being loud in the breezeway - but it never woke up the girls the 2 times in happened while people were walking by our room. I know they said our condo was updated. It was very nice and comfortable. I don't know if all the condos are updated...just be sure to ask. They were also having a labor day weekend sale - I think 25% off or something.
we've stayed at the sandyturtle condo! our boys were 3.5 and 1.5yo and I was early pg w#3 at the time It worked out great for us. it was a walk to the beach, thru some dunes, but not bad, very doable w/little ones. the pool was meh, nothing too exciting, we mostly hit the beach. there was a fun playscape on the property. the only downside to the beach is you are close in town. there is traffic on the beach and lots of cigarette butts but you prob know all that since you've been there often, this was our first time. (it was April). we haven't been back, but have thought of staying farther out from town next time we go (thinking the beach will be a little cleaner?). but the condo worked totally great for us

For next time, I plan to look at these places:

They received really good reviews from Heidi, who writes the blog Free Fun in Austin. Here's her article:

Also, I have another friend that stayed at Port Royal and said it is very kid friendly and she didn't encounter any noise. Here's a link:

Awesome! Thanks so much!
And as a sidenote, my daughter is named Ruby, too. Great name!
Our go-to places are La Mirage and Port Royal. Don't know if those fit into your price range or not. I LOVE La Mirage.
We also had good luck finding a small rental house using VRBO.com but I don't know that you'd find something for $200/nt.
And this so motivates me to book a trip, we haven't been in a while and I love Port A!
