Ok ladies, I havent even thought of this question until my boss asked me what comes first (she is 3 weeks behind me) so I wanted to know what you all are educated on.
Do you get contractions first and then your water breaks?
Or can your water break with no contractions?
It's silly that neither of us know the answer to this question Im sure some of you may think, but hey isn't that what the bump is for? to ask questions ![]()
Thanks in advance!
Re: What comes first?
it can happen either way. i work with 2 women who's water broke with zero contractions starting on their own. they got to the hospital and ended up with pitocin to get constractions started.
my sister on the other hand, had all 4 kids and had to have her water broken at the hospital each time. she was in labor, full contractions, but her water never broke on it's own.
Like PP said, it can happen either way. You can also deliver a baby that is fully inclosed in the sack of waters and never have it break. It is not necessary to break the waters inorder to deliver, especially if you are already in full labor.
My(2nd DD0 water broke and then the contractions started 30 minutes later right at 4 minutes apart)
My dd#1 I was induced and the contractions started then the dr broke my water.
With my first I had no signs at all and then my water broke and the contractions kicked in!
Me, too. I was having contrax for a few days and then doc broke my water and DS was born a few hours later (finally!).
