Keep on truckin'!

My EDD is tomorrow (eek!) but I really want to do what I can to not get frustrated if/when i go past it. So, I'd like to plan some little things to do each day for the next week to look forward too (pedicure, visit my fav restaurant, etc.)

Any ideas?! I don't have loads of energy, so things like "visiting the aquarium" (ie - walking around for hours!) just won't work!

TIA!

  • I'm a teacher, and our school year ended 2 days before I reached full-term, and DS was born at 39w2d, so I had about 2 weeks to fill w/ things... I got a pedicure, went out for a couple of nice dinners w/ DH, did lots of cleaning, stocked the kitchen, and spent lots of time being lazy and enjoying the peace and quiet. A few days before DS arrived, my BFF and SIL came over and brought a couple of chick flicks and Cheesecake Factory appetizers and dessert, which was also perfect "girly" fun. :)

GL and hang in there! Your LO will be here before you know it!
  • We went out to eat every nght for the two weeks leading up to my c-section. It was like a "last hurrah"

I got massages, pedicures, my hair done, you name it.

I did a lot of shopping for myself, the house, the baby, etc.

I went and visited with friends as much as possible too.

  • I second (or third) the idea of getting a hair cut.  I wish I had gotten my "Mommy-cut" before hand.

  • Ditto the reccs to: 1) get a pedicure, I wouldn't get a manicure, because some babies need help nursing using your fingers and I wouldn't want nailpolish in my newborn's mouth, 2) haircut and/or color, that way you will look nice in all of the new baby pictures, 3) if you have anything around the house (gifts, etc.) that need to be returned/exchanged, go and do that now- if you are ready to part w/ some of your maternity clothes maybe go set up an account at a consignment shop, etc.

I don't know how to say this- but make your house easy for people to help you in, if that means labeling stuff, etc. do it.  I always have the toughest time delegating household tasks.  If we ever go for a 3rd, I will have a basket of cleaning supplies (even though we use mostly homemade/natural cleaners) for the bathrooms and one for the kitchen, etc. I will label everything to make it easy for me to tell my mom, or whoever comes over, to clean a bathroom, do a load of laundry, etc.
