Sorry, Elia is a boy's name, like Elia Kazan. It's a variant of Elias. I know 2 Elias and they are men.

I love the sound of the name, and it's a beautiful name for a girl. But the only Elia I know has a loud shrill voice you can hear from blocks away. I get twitchy thinking about it. That said, I think it's an underused name and I really like your choice.

I'm not sure how to pronounce it. There are lots of close variations you could consider too: Eloise, Elise, Ella, Eliza, Elizabeth, Elle, Ellie

We would pronounce it Ell-e-uh. I like Elle and Ellie as well but feel that those could be NN for Elia. It is a girls name, its not very common tho.

I know two people with this name. A man in his 30s who pronounces it eh-lie-ah, kind of like Elijah...and a 1 year old girl who pronounces it elle-ee-ah.
