Bedding = $$$$

Why are some crib sets so expensive when it literally comes with like 4 things?

Bumper - which I don't plan on using

Crib sheet - which I can buy for under $10

Skirt - I have no clue how much these are but plan on making my own

Blanket/Quilt - I take it this is the most expensive piece?

I've already made my own blanket, I'm not using a bumper and I'm going to make my own skirt so at least I'll save on buying a whole set.

IUI#1 - 05/20/08 = BFP! M/C - 14 weeks :( baby girl
IUI#2 - 01/07/09 = BFP!!! Twins!! Pre-term labor 20 weeks :( lost twin girls
IUI#3 - 1/31/10 = BFP!!!! M/C - 8wks :( again
IVF #1 - 7/2010 = c/p
FET - 9/2010 = another c/p
IUI#4 - 2/14/11 = BFP!

    Because everything associated with "baby" is like 12X more expensive.  Maternity clothes make me BSC too because the sales always suck and there's hardly ever a good selection (maybe it's just the places I've tried).

    It's definitely ridiculous. I think the one we're getting the "accessories" for is about $160. I was warned by friends not to get it since you don't use 1/2 the stuff anyway. It's crazy to me!

    I know I know.  I fell in love with this super cute bedding set at BRU and it's $169 dollars!!!!  I will probably break down and buy it because I love it so much but seriously think it's a rip off and am pissed that I can buy an entire bassinet with vibrations and sounds for $99 but I have to spend $169 for a huge set of crap I probably won't need!!!

    bedding sets have got to be one of the biggest wastes of $ of all baby products

    5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
    IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
    FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
    twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
    Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first

    Thankful for every day

    I agree- they are a complete waste of money.  This time I just picked out a bedding set I liked, bought the valiance, the sheets, a blanket that matches, mobile, lamp and some accessories I liked. 

    I don't need the bumpers, quilt, diaper stacker or dust ruffle.
