I swear, I think dropping off my 3rd grader might have been worse than when she started kindergarden. She was as cool as a cucumber walking in to school this morning and I held off the waterworks until I turned to leave and she said "Wait Mom, kiss me goodbye!" waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
Re: First day of school
awwwww, damn! that is so sweet!
Finn's first day of pre-k was last week, he didn't even say good-bye, he hung up his back pack and walked away to go play, his teacher stopped him to prompt him to say good-bye to me.
better than the alternative, there was a little boy who was wailing every morning last week, I wouldn't have been able to handle that (along with trying to get Riley and Kellen out the door back to the car!)!
This is what is bugging me too! We keep talking about how we would handle pre-K next year if we stay in our house. We have to leave at 6:30 in the morning to miss rush hour so he would have to go to before and after school care. It's really no different than him going to daycare all day now but for some reason it tears me up to even have to consider it!
I've been going through the exact same thing. It's really hitting me now that I'm a working mom. I had always wanted to go part-time when Alec started kindergarten, but with DH only working PT, it's not an option. I'm the breadwinner:(.
On the flip side, I had planned to pick Alec up from school early on Mondays and Fridays but he did not like that. He's actually having so much fun in after-school care that I'm keeping him in all week.
