sea bands... how to hide them?

Ok so I am pregnant with my 2nd. With my first pregnancy, I had no morning sickness, no nausea, nothing. Just very tired. Now I am 6 weeks and not only am I exhausted, I have ms!!! Yesterday I thre up in the morning but I was nauseous all day. I bought some sea bands and they really seem to help. I wore them ever since yesterday afternoon, even overnight and I woke up feeling better today. The only problem is I go back to work (teaching) in 2 weeks. At that point I'll only be 8 weeks along and I wasn't planning on telling my principal until atleast 12 weeks or so. However, I must wear these sea bands. They look like 80s workout sweat bands, remember those? There is no hiding them. They are so thick/wide. Any suggestions? grrrrr!!!

  • Maybe tell them you're fighting an inner-ear thing that makes you feel like you have motion sickness?

  • I'd just lie and say you are wearing them for some other reason. Seabands aren't specifically designed for pregnant women. They have all sorts of uses.

  • You need to start wearing ankle weights, a head band, big earrings, a walkman and bike shorts under a thong leotard.

Totally not helpful, but I couldn't resist.  The only thing I did was wear a light sweater or long sleeves, but it's freezing in my office.

  • I'm sorry I dont really have a suggestion other then long sleeves. But, I was wondering where you found them at?

  • Thanks for all the suggestsions and LOL at the workout gear. I am tempted.

CVS near antacids and stool softeners, etc.

  • I've got the same problem, and the only thing I can think of is buying some feather-light cardigans in black or grey, since my seabands are black. it's not the perfect solution, but people do know that I'm always cold anyway--and there is no way I can teach three hours in a row without them. . .
  • Wish I could wear long sleeves but its HOT in the classroom until the end of Sept. No AC... sucks!
  • What if you take them off when you have to go in the office, but wear them around students (who probably don't know what they're for).  I have them too, but haven't had to wear them every day.  I also teach, and this is what I plan on doing.

  • You work in a building full of women, many of whom had kids.  No one is going to believe that they are for anything but m/s!  My thought was also to wear long sleeve.  Aside from that....I'd start looking into other options or consider telling early.  I know that answer sucks.  Sorry!

  • I wear sea bands too, but I've only been sick in the AM so they are off before work. Have you tried Vit B6 for m/s? I'm doing both and not sure which one is working but not stopping either. I just take 50mg of Vit B6 every bedtime. You could try that before you go back to see if it works.

Thanks. I'll give that a try!

  • You could try Psi Bands instead (www.psibands.com). Works on the same principle, but at least they come in cute designs -- looks more like a trendy bracelet! I think you can get them at most Rite Aid, CVS and Whole Foods stores. Good luck!
  • I am 8 weeks, 3 days, and I bought my Seabands yesterday and I am SO glad that I found these things.  Starting at week 7 I was nauseous 24/7.  I put them on first thing this morning before I even got out of bed and today is my first day of wearing them all day and they have worked absolute wonders for me.  Though I still have food aversions, I am not feeling very sick at all and I can actually eat.  I do feel like I just stepped out of an 80s movie, but hey they work and if anybody asks, I'm just going to tell them what's up! :)
