Mama's to be of boys...

Are there any places you're loving to shop?

I'm so excited to be having a boy but less excited to be buying the boy stuff I'm seeing out there. I'm a little over boats and pale blue. I have a really hard time putting my boy in stuff that looks like my grandma would love (sailor suits and duckies). And when it comes to accessories and such stores seem to be so flooded with pink.

DH and I have been finding most of our clothing at farm supply stores-Farm and Fleet, TSC... (funny I know). I love cute little denim bibs and the shirts seem to be still cutesy with puppies and things but at least there's some red, navy, hunter green... But these stores don't have much of a selection at all and I think we're running out of gas there.

So....any reccommendations of places with good boy baby stuff? Either actual stores or online?

  • Newborn stuff you are going to get the cutesy, baby blue and pale green sleepers which are great. Once baby gets a little bigger I LOVE Osh Kosh Bgosh (we have similar taste-- DH is a country guy and Ds is often in jeans and boots, overalls, plaid shirts, etc.) I also really like the kids line that Kohls has for little boys (jumping beans)-- I am a sucker for a little boy in a polo onesie with plaid shorts :-) Both stores have basic colors (red, navy, green, khaki) and simple styles for the most part which I prefer to have more plain, classic stuff than stuff covered in characters or cutesy pictures. I like my little boy to look like a little gentleman hehe

Walmart also occasionally has some cute stuff and when DS was little he lived in the cloth pants and matching onesie outfits that Garanimals sells. I also like Children's Place but its way out of our budget so I just keep an eye out for CP clothes at Once Upon A Child.

  • I just went to buy buy baby yesterday and was impressed by the color choices they had for boys. I did see some osh kosh denim overalls there if that is your style but tons tons of other things. long sleave stripped onesies, star patterns. They had bright color like orange and bright green as well as brown and navy. Overall I was impressed. The prices were similar to target. I got the cutest dark blue onesie with the british flag and a Beatles logo on it. (i'm a huge Beatles fan) They also had local sports teams gear that was not cheesey. (Griants, A's, 49ers, Raiders, and Cal) and if you dont have one in your area there is an online store. I got my car seat from them online and it was shipped 2-day express for free. :)

  • i found a bunch of stuff on kohl's website, then in the store at carter's and children's place. we both like the classic look (polos, onesies w/o cutesy sayings, etc.).

  • I"ve bought TONS of stuff from Carter's, and BRU (mostly carter's line) and none of it is "baby blue". I too hate the baby blue for babies...don't know why...never liked it.

I've also got tons of clothes from garage sales that are in bright greens, yellows, reds, navy, orange, etc. They are mostly Children's Place, Carter's, Osh Kosh, Gap, Gymboree...anyway. I don't think it's too hard to find non baby blue clothes, just have to know where to look!

Good luck! I've found it is soooo fun shopping for little boy clothes!

  • I'm sooooo glad I'm not the only one that is upset with the selections out there for little boys. I hate the duckies, etc. Have you found a bedding yet? I'm having more trouble finding a bedding!!! Clothes I've seen that were not so "babyish" were at the gap & some of the Carter line. Let me know with the bedding though!!!

  • The newest boy clothing obsession seems to be rockstar clothes. They really aren't my style at all.

  • I have found a lot of cute stuff at Childrens Place, Gap and Gymboree. If you sign up for emails from Gap you will get 30 and 40% off coupon codes all the time, which makes some of their prices a little more reasonable.
