Hey ladies, our yard SUCKS and I am contemplating a yard service. I am getting quotes at 30-40 bucks a treatment and at 7 treatments at year thats probably more money than we want to spend. Does anyone know how to get a better deal with them or know of a company thats more affordable? Good or bad experiences with either?
Re: Scotts, TruGreen, other? Deals or Opinions?
We go with TruGreen and you really do not need all 7 treatments. I am only doing 4, maybe 5 but I have to say the $30 is well worth it, at least for us. We also do not pay up front, they send a bill so $30 every now and then isn't that bad.

We had TruGreen for 2 years to correct the stinking mess the previous owners left us. It worked. Yard looked great. We had to call them back several times to kill weeds that their spray did not get. Not OK. The last straw was them showing up here in early March to do the early Spring treatment, and there was 3 inches of snow on the ground except for a spot or two that had melted. DH met them at the driveway and halted that crap. We fired them that day. Had we not been home, they would have sprayed whatever they say they are spraying on the snow, and they would have left the bill for it. They didn'tunderstand our anger.
We do it ourselves now, and our yard actually looks better, for less money. I would never have them back here again. I still cannot believe they wanted to spray our yard with that much snow out there. Never ever again. You can buy fertilizer, a spreader, and weed killer for much less than they charge. 15 minutes of spreading or spraying saves you a lot of money.
