I'm looking to get an umbrella stroller for travel and I'm wondering about the pros and cons of getting 2 umbrella strollers and a connector vs a double umbrella.
Seems like the two would be more flexible (and we would often be together when using them so dh and i could each push 1), but is there something I'm not thinking of? Do the stroller connectors work?
Thanks!
Re: Stroller connectors?
We actually have both, a Baby Jogger City Mini and two umbrella strollers and connectors. The BJCM is our everyday stoller, but we like having the ability to push the kids separately sometimes in the umbrella strollers. We use the connectors very rarely when we want to join them on those outings. The connectors work well and are pretty easy to get on and off, but there are three of them, so it does take a minute or two.
My main reasons that I'm glad we have the City Mini for everyday use is that it's more durable and it's skinnier than the two umbrella strollers connected--they would not fit through most doorways, but the BJCM does. It's also easier to set up than two umbrellas plus connectors, especially if you had to do that multiple times in one outing.
I'm glad we have both options, but perhaps the two umbrella strollers with connectors would be fine for the use you intend. For travel as a family, I think it's a great idea. Altogether the investment was about $80, so it's probably worth giving it a shot. If you went for an additional side-by-side later, it would still be nice to have them as an option.
