my 3.5 year old is obsessed with pianos and violins and wants to learn to play!! he is so young so i don't even know if they can teach someone his age, but i'd love to get him used to it to see if he really loves it as much as he thinks he will/does.
'the music class' offers keyboard but not until kindergarden (ie- when they can read and read music...), but does anyone know of someone or a place that would teach violin or piano earlier?
Re: otp piano or violin lessons....
The only methodology I know of that teaches children an actual instrument that young is Suzuki -- you can go to the Suzuki Association website and search for local teachers (www.suzukiassociation.org).
Another really respected music program is Kindermusik (www.kindermusik.com). They don't teach specific instrumentation at this age, but they have a really nice little curriculum and lots of take-home stuff.
That's great that he has an interest in music! Definitely encourage him!
thank you thank you!!!
My old co-worker's wife teaches music lessons. She was the orchestra teacher at Peachtree Middle School for years and she said my 5yo niece was a great age to start, so your son may be fine. She is super nice and has great experience (and 2 LO of her own). She is located in the Dunwoody area.
