so prior to all my OB appts I have been getting so anxious bc i felt like i was beginning to meet some vbac resistance. So this time i wrote down a list of questions before the appt so that i could get my answers and not be flustered. Well i walk into the office-the PA student got my urine and found the Hb- then in comes the OB. He was just looking at the chart and said okay do you have any questions. so (i'm thinking okay now i am prepared!) well my first question was:
do you think that i am a good vbac candidate? OB respone: well 60-80% of ladies that have a c section for fetal reasons (heart tones, distress) should be able to have a vaginal birth. I say oh good then thats me bc my son had a section bc of the cord around his neck not bc of my pelvis...his response "i dont know i wasnt there"
then over head there is a page Dr X please come to L&D..
So i squeak out the next question: If you dont think that you are going to be able to help me with a VBAC do you have a name of a doc at the bigger hospital that can? OB respone (as he is backing out of the room-his white jacket is already off and his surgery cap on) not sure who to call, just call down there and ask to speak to someone. So then he leaves the room and i am there sitting with my questions in hand...had to take my own chart to the desk...and he is in the waitign room and yells to me.."yeah just call down there...i dont know who to talk to"
WTF....so i left in tears more anxious than before...and not for anything we are both in healthcare and i could tell you i would NEVER treat a patient like that...there are ways to emeregently exit a room. (ex..sorry i have to run like this but let me call you and we can get all your questions answered?)
so here i am square one.
Needing a VBAC friendly OB in wilkes barre scranton PA..and willing to travel...thinking about pennstate hershey (but its a 2 hour drive)
sorry its so long...but i need advice and you are my gals!
Re: okay so i know i need to switch docs (long)
I'm sorry. It sounds like he really sucks. I wouldn't want an OB like that even for a RCS.
Have you contacted your local ican chapter? https://ican-online.org/chapter/search
i did already email the local ican chapter twice with no respone..
DC#2 born silent at 22 weeks 1.11.11
Dc#3 born vbac 1/2012 <bra DC#4 born VBAC 3/2014
That is awful! At least you see he is a giant jerk now, and not when you are 38 weeks along. I would see if you can find ICAN on facebook, to get your answers that way.
Good luck!
