DD pain-free for 24 hours!

We had a really rough two days. Evelyn couldn't eat or drink. She'd have a plate of food in front of her, take a bite, cry and sign "eat" but couldn't take another bite and just sit and cry. She stopped drinking completely for 16 hours because it was too painful. It was heartbreaking. She's 18 months and only 21lbs, and I was getting worried about dehydration and weight loss.

BUT it looks like the Pediatric ENT was right. The thrush medication is working! She has been able to eat and drink without any crying since yesterday morning. Woo-hoo!! This means no painful scraping and a full recovery.

I'm just so relieved. It's not completely resolved yet, but it has been getting better each day. We see the pedi again on Monday, but at this rate, it should be fully healed. Thanks again for all the prayers! It was pretty scary for a while.

  • Amazing news!  I had thrush in one breast for a while and it was very painful after feedings. Once I started treating it with Diflucan the pain went away pretty much instantly.  Luckily the babies never showed symptoms of having it themselves.  I feel for your DD but am so glad it turned out to be something so easily treated!
  • Oh how wonderful!  I can't imagine your last couple days!
