Trying to Get Pregnant

How do you remember?

I feel like such a dork, but since I started charting 3 days ago I've only remembered once to temp right when I wake up Embarrassed  Both the other times I jumped out of bed when my alarm went off and either started my coffee or went to the bathroom and then remembered to temp.  How do you ladies remember to temp right away upon waking up?  Is it just something I'm going to have to get used to and just deal with the messed up temps until I make it a habit or are there any tips/tricks that would help?

  • LOL... I'm laughing only because I was the exact same way when I started charting Smile  You'll get used to it within the first couple of weeks.  I just got in to the habit by making sure I had my BBT right in front of my alarm clock (and I pushed the alarm farther away).. that seemed to help a bit - but it took about a week before I started reaching for the BBT before the clock.  Good luck!

  • I did that when I first started but after a few times temping, you remember. I just set my alarm and keep the thermometer on top of my cell phone.

  • It takes time. You'll get it :)  I put my thermometer ON my phone, so I have to touch it to turn off my alarm.

  • This is a huge problem for me, for various reasons. 1) My husband always turns the alarm off as soon as he hears it, unless it's for him to get up for work, then he hits snooze a couple times. 2) I don't hear my cell phone alarm, so that's useless. 3) I can't set my thermometer on/near the alarm clock or it gets knocked behind the headboard/bed, then I hafta get out of bed to get it. 4) DH gets up for work at 4:30 am when on dayshift, so I hafta temp then b/c I won't get 3 hours of sleep after. However, I have trouble falling asleep, so sometimes I don't get 3 hours of sleep beforehand, either. If I'm too sleepy when the alarm goes off, I'm not coherent at all and just turn it off and go back to sleep, without temping. Sooooo frustrating! We've been camping a lot this summer, so I've just been keeping the thermometer under my pillow. At home, I keep it on the bedside table. The odd time I still forget to temp, so I just don't bother if I've been up for a bit. I've tried it and it's always about a degree higher, so worthless to even take. As you get more and more "obsessed" with knowing when you ovulate, it's easier to remember. Lol. GL to you!
  • That's a brilliant idea, ladies!  I don't have regular alarm clock because I just use my phone as one so I think I'll set my BBT on top of it tonight so I will remember in the morning.  Thanks! Smile

  • I'm the same way! I get up at 5am and I'm usually so groggy, yet rushed that I completely forget. I usually remember in the shower that I forgot to temp Angry There are also mornings when I get up to go pee then realize I have to be up in an hour anyways, ruining the 3 hour of consecutive rest needed for an accurate reading. I'm a huge temping failure.

What helps me is my H rolling over and saying "did you take your temperature!?" before I can hop out of bed. I also try to set the thermometer on my phone (which is my alarm clock). However, my cats think that knocking it off on to the floor is a great game.

  • I set an alarm to temp 30 minutes before I usually get up. It's a cell phone alarm that says TEMP so it reminds me even when I'm half asleep. Then I temp and hit snooze about 5 more times before I actually get out of bed. If I tried to temp at my normal wake up time, I know I would keep hitting snooze and my time would never be consistent.
