Middle of the night diaper changes

so my daughter has a fairly good sleep schedule in my opinion considering she is only 4 weeks old.  She will go to sleep anywhere between 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm and wakes up once in the middle of the night to eat (usually between 1:30 am and 3:00 am) and then is up again between 5:30 am and 6:30 am.

Occasionally I will wake her before she wakes up because I feel as if it is time to change her diaper and I don't want her spending and extended time in a wet diaper.  Is it ok to let her stay in that diaper until she wakes up on her own to feed.

I guess I'm looking for a gage of how many will wake their little ones and how many will let them just wake up when they are ready.

  • I don't change DDs diaper at night anymore. I slather on a ton of A&D before bed and she's never had a rash.

  • At night, I only change her when she wakes me up. If I wake up because I'm full/feeling like she needs to eat, I will change her to get her awake enough to eat. If she's fussing, I'll check her diaper. My daughter is about on the same night time schedule as yours.

  • I change once in the middle of the night because she wakes up on her own to eat after about 4-5 hrs.
  • We don't change LO's diaper unless he is awake or it is poop. Pee is pretty much sterile so it shouldn't hurt them to stay in the wet diaper until they wake up.

This. I also use the pampers baby dry, it's supposed to be good for 12 hours.

  • I change when DS wakes for his feeding.  I change him right before bed, when he wakes for feeding, and 1st thing in the a.m.

good to know some of you dont change your LO in the middle of the night....I hate to because it makes him WIDDDDEEEE awake, and then i cant get him back to sleep for like, 2 hours......I feel guilty not changing him though.  unless he poops, i dont think i'm going to change him from now on. i will just use alot of diaper rash cream.

  • I NEVER wake to do a diaper change....that's like suicide, lol! If she wakes herself of course I'll change her, but that's the only time.

  • DS wakes up on average 2x/night. I always check to see if he needs changing, and sometimes he doesn't (we use cloth diapers). If he's wet I always change him but wait until after he's eaten from boob #1 or he gets MAD. Boob #2 always induces a coma so waking him up isn't a big concern.

He hasn't made a dirty diaper at night in weeks. (Knock on wood.)

  • Our DD is on the exact same sleep schedule as yours. I just wait to change her at her feeding and I make sure to put diaper rash cream on.
  • I don't change her diaper until 5 am or so and she goes down at 9:30.
