Winter Coat?

Are you getting your LO a winter coat? My DS is big and in 6 month stuff now so I'm trying to figure out what to get for the winter. He'll be coming out of his infant seat probably in the middle of winter so I will need something warmer then since he won't have the bundle me anymore.

If you're getting one or have already, where are you getting it from?

Re: Winter Coat?

  • I bought the Widgeon Warm Plus Favorite Jacket from Diapers.com (it's half off): https://www.diapers.com/p/Widgeon-Warm-Plus-Favorite-Jacket-Bright-Pink-18957

My LO is also in 6/9 mos stuff, so I got it size 12mos. I figure with her clothes underneath it will need to be a little roomy anyway.

  • I have no clue what we are going to do for winter! large consignment sale in my area is coming up in September so I plan to look there but heard that you aren't supposed to put it on them then strap them in...put it on with the back facing out/arms in sleeves. Not sure how much truth there is to this....FTM here. curious to see what others are going to do.

Last fall when I was 4m pregnant, we were on vacation in Maine and picked up a unisex down North Face jacket from the outlet. Its so adorable, I can't wait to use it. Its a 12m size, and she's in mostly 6m clorhes now, but 9m sleepers because of her length. Hopefully the jacket will last all winter!

  • Yeah. The jacket we got is thin enough she can be in the car with it. Or at least that's what our Dr's office said.

  • DS will probably still be in his infant seat (he's still only about 13lbs and in 3mo clothes) so we'll just use a thin fleece jacket of some sort and our carseat cover.

With #1 though we found the thinnest but warmest jacket we could and a good hat.  We kept a blanket in the car to cover him if needed and always tried to warm the car whenever possible.  It's just not practical to do that whole put the coat on backwards thing.  We just always make sure to really tighten the car seat straps down so it compresses the jacket.

  • the backwards coat was something a friend of mine did so that is where that came from. My mom found us a fleece jacket so I think I will attempt that with blanket/cover at first and see how things go.

  • Thanks for the responses.

Yea there's no way I can do the backwards coat thing. I'm a nanny and have a 3yo I take care of as well as my DS. I'd freeze trying to maneuver that!

I wasn't sure if a Fleece type coat would be enough but it seems that's the most common. I'm just going to get a big  North Face and call it a day.

  • The Children's place has a great 3-in-1 coat!

There is a the inner fleece that is great for the car seats, and the outer shell that works great in the snow and when you are out for longer periods of time!  It covers all of your needs and is really hearty.  We love them!
