::lurking from 2IF::
I was just diagnosed with BT a few weeks ago. My chomosomes that are affected are 13 and 14. (Which apparently is the most common) We are in the process of seeing if ins. will cover any of the PGD part (I have no fertility coverage)
I am hoping to do an IVF cycle before the end of the year....
I also have a DD who is 3. I didn't know about my BT then. We got pg with her ont he 1st try and never dreamed we'd have so much trouble with #2. I have had 3 m/c's in the past year (which is what prompted us to get testing done)
Feel free to PM me (although I'm not sure how to retrieve a PM, I've never had one before) or you can find me over on the 2IF board!
Best of luck to you and your husband!!
DD conceived with no issues, but born at 33 weeks due to PPROM
loss #1-06/2010 loss #2-2/2011 loss #3-5/2011
07/2011 dx with a Balanced Translocation
9/2011-decided on domestic infant adoption 10/2011-signed with an agency and getting ready for homestudy
12-2012-after being with our agency over a year and only shown to EM once we decided to talk with RE about DEIVF. Thru a crazy sequence of events we decided to go for it and we picked a donor MUCH quicker than anticipated
1/13/2013-started lupron with anticipated transfer in mid Feb.
ER 2/15 resulted in 15 eggs/10M/6F with ICSI.
2/18 transferred 1-8cell and 1-9cell embie. Snuggle in little embies.
positive on HPT 6dp3dt. Could this really be IT?!?! Beta 14dp3dt=2440. U/S scheduled for 3/20.
I'm so sorry for the Dx. It's such a hard one to get and there's very few on the board that have it.
My DH also has a BT with chromosomes 6 and 8. We discovered ours after our first IVF. This was my very first pregnancy and we had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. After a ton of testing, we found out about DH's BT. We then did two IVF with PGD cycles, but unfortunately had terrible results. First we tested 11 embryos and only 1 came back "normal". The one normal one was a poor quality blast and I did not get pregnant. Our second PGD cycle, we tested 7 more embryos and my worst fear came true...none were normal and we had nothing to transfer. So only 1 out of 18 embryos even had a chance between the two cycles. After these terrible results, we've since moved onto donor sperm. We did our first DS IVF in June....and the bad luck continued as I had a early miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks after low initial betas.
I wish you well as you embark on the PGD journey. I totally understand the added stress PGD adds to an already stressful IVF cycle. I hope my story doesn't scare you because when doing my research, I did find many success stories...I just wasn't one of them. Good Luck and I hope you do become a success story!!
Feel free to PM me with any questions!

Hi there,
My DH was discovered to have a BT of chromosomes 4 and 10 last Sept. I had miscarried 4 times at that point, and lost our 5th baby last month (all first tri losses). On one hand it is good to know the cause of all of our misfortune, but it hasn't made the pain of the losses any easier.
It's such a daunting diagnosis to not know how much more heartbreak we'll have to go through to reach our dreams for our family. I found a yahoo group for BT'ers, and it has been a great source of info and encouragement. It's been amazing to learn of everyone's journey. There's one lady that had 4 children before she was ever aware of her BT! She's been trying for their 5th, and had a devastating late loss. She is currently pregnant via donor embryos.
The overall consensus on the yahoo group board is that trying naturally is the way to go. It seems people have had a lot less luck doing IVF w/ PGD (not to say it hasn't worked for some).
We, personally, aren't ready to try IVF w/ PGD for several reasons. Luckily, we don't have trouble conceiving so we're still "rolling the dice" and hoping one of these times we get lucky.
Come find us on the BT yahoo group. It's so nice to have a group of people that completely "get it".
Best of luck to you, and I hope your rainbow is just around the corner.
Lisa
