According to the "awake time" chart my LO should be up from 60-70 mins between naps. Yeah right! Sometimes he is up for 5-6 hour stretches dispite my attempts to get him to nap.

Does anyone's LO nap this often???
My LO is only 2 weeks and 5days and yesterday I was lucky to get her to take 2 1-2 hr naps!! She was soo cranky!!!!
Where is this awake time chart you speak of? My DD is rarely able to stay up for more than an hour before she turns into a monster. She would stay up and cry at me if I let her, but when she starts getting fussy I have learned to just put her in her bed - better she cry at it for 10 min and then fall asleep than cry at me for several hours (although she rarely cries much at all when I put her to bed unless she it overtired). If your LO is up for 5-6 hours and not entirely pleasant you may need to let him cry just a little in his bed to fall asleep. It was hard to do this with my first but well worth it - well slept babies are much nicer to be around!
My LO is still quite sleepy, she's usually awake about an hour, then crashes for 2-3 in the bouncy or swing. She has one longer awake stretch in the evenings of (2-3 hours). I keep thinking soon she'll be awake longer, but taking advantage of the quiet time and getting some projects completed on leave.

THIS! Mine also does not want to be awake for long stretches. Now at the very first sign of fussing she goes right to nap time (taken upstairs, swaddled, paci) and falls asleep in less than 2 minutes. I used to try to keep her awake because I thought she was still sleeping too much. Not anymore!
My DD was EXACTLY like that until I learned to let her fuss a little bit. Now I put her down for all naps in her crib (unless we're out) and I make her room super dark. I put her sound machine lamb on and pop a binky in her mouth. I'll walk out and let her fuss for like two minutes then walk back in put my hand on her back and re-pop in the binky, then I leave again. I just repeat the cycle till she's sleeping. It used to take so many cycles of this, but now I can sometimes get her to fall asleep after only one or two binky pops.
Re: Do the "awake time" apply to anyone?
