Average Birth Weight?

I had an ultrasound this morning and the tech said that both babies are measuring 3lbs 1 oz each. She said that this was a little above average (55th percentile), perfect.

My question that I forgot to ask her is, if they continue to be an average weight, what is the average weight of twins at birth? I'm more curious than anything and if you could even point me in the right direction to find out, that would be great!

My LOs were born at 5lbs 13 oz and 4 lbs and15 oz so they were roughly 5 and 6 pounds. Id say thats average, but thats not medically proven just what i have seen. My guys measured pretty average throught the pregnancy and i delivered at 36wks 6 days. They did no NICU time and only DD stayed for an extra 24hrs for jaundice. both were healthy.

I recently read in a pregnancy magazine, so take it w/appropriate weight, that twins avg. ~5 1/2 lbs. ea. at birth, while singletons avg. ~7 1/2 lbs. each. There is obviously a wide range around those avgs. dependent on many factors.

At 35.5wks, my boys avg 6lbs, but they have been on the big side since day 1.

I'm not sure what the average weights are, but my girls were born at 38w 6d at 6 lbs 6 oz (30th percentile) and 7 lbs 7 oz (60th percentile).

I had my boys at 37 weeks 4 days. A was 6lbs 11oz and B 5lbs. No NICU time.

My girls were born at exactly 37 weeks. A was 6lbs, 7oz and B was 5lbs, 6oz. No NICU time and both are doing great!

My doc told me to expect (or hope) for between 5 1/2 and 6 pounds.

I don't know avg size but I met a woman recently who's twins were born at 37wks and weighed 7lbs ea! I thought that was impressive!!

Average twin gestation=36w (though I've also seen it listed as 35.5 or 36.5 so I'm not sure)

Average birth weight for twins=5lbs6oz

My twins were born at 37w6d via scheduled induction and weighed 6lbs10oz and 6lbs7oz.

My DDs were born at 37w 1d and were 5lb 13oz and 5lb 6oz. We had no NICU time and they came home with me

Our twins were born at 37w2d and weighed 6lbs 4oz and 7lbs 11oz. Our singleton was born at 39w1d and weighed 6lbs 11oz.
