Today, I went to both Target and Babies R Us looking for a "Big Brother" shirt for DS.
The only ones they had were long sleeve. I did find plenty of cute "Little Brother" short sleeve shirts.
I finally found on on Amazon that I just ordered (I'd be happy to share the link if anyone wants it).
I should be around 7 weeks when we all travel from MD to AL to visit my family Labor Day weekend. I'm really wanting to reveal our surprise to close family down there and in person. I'm not sure if it's too early or not, my appointment isn't until September 7th (we'll be back in MD) but, we don't see my family often and I would much rather surprise them in person instead of over the phone.
Thoughts? Do you think it would still be too soon?
Re: The great search for a "Big Brother" shirt
I got my daughter's "I'm going to be a big sister" shirt from Zoey's Attic on Etsy - I was too paranoid to even search for them until after our 8 week ultrasound. It came really quickly and everyone has loved it so far!

I kept thinking that I needed to go find a Carter's but, I don't know where one is close to me!!
The one I ordered from Amazon is from Cafe Press!
I bought DD two "big sister" shirts from CafePress. Super cute!
We're also telling my in-laws in person around Labor Day weekend, and I'm so excited! Although, we'll have already had our first u/s. The only reason I could see you waiting until after your first appointment is if you would want to keep it private should something happen at this early stage. We wouldn't want anyone else to know, which is why we'll be telling my parents over the phone after Labor Day, instead of telling them in person when we see them this weekend.
All the ones from cafe press and amazon were too pricey for me! It's a t-shirt for goodness sakes! So I'm making one. I bought a pack of plain white t-shirts that he'll be able to wear or we can decorate for other things. Or make him 5 different big brother shirts! LOL Oh and some crayola fabric markers. The cool thing about the crayloa fabric markers is that if you don't like the design you can wash it in cold water and it SHOULD wash out. It doesn't set until you get it hot (they say a warm iron on the back of the t-shirt.)
So for 16 bucks I got 5 shirts and the markers, instead of one shirt that's already printed.
This is where we got ours. I will say though that the shirt reveal was largely a big flop. We tried it out three times (once with my parents, and once each with DH's parents, who are divorced), and nobody really paid attention to her shirt--they were too busy just interacting with her. We had to ask them to point it out.
I had a Groupon for Picture People though and took her there to get her pic taken in the shirt. They were able to get a few really good shots of her standing there smiling with the shirt clearly visible/readable, and everyone who has seen the picture (without knowing our news) immediately noticed the shirt. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have had her wear the shirt and give the grandparents a framed copy of the picture.
Also, check The Children's Place. They are usually located in malls or outlet malls.
I once had a picture until the trolls showed up.
