CDing mamas: where would you get your aplix fixed?

With #2 on the way, I know some of our BGs are going to need to be have the aplix (velcro) fixed.  Some dipes aren't very 'sticky' anymore.  The baby will be in prefolds and fitteds for the first 4 months or so, so I have plenty of time.  I don't know whether to send them in somewhere or find a local seamstress?  I am not a sewer or I'd do it myself.  I'd like to get a good deal if possible so I'm starting the process early.  TIA!

  • I would email stephanie at Abby's Lane and ask her if she has any suggestions!

  • Thanks! :)  That and posting on CD board were my next plans of action.  But I know a lot of people CD around here so I figured somebody may have gone through this already.
  • Not sure of the vendors, but you might check Etsy. I know people who have gotten their BGs switched from aplix to snaps (my preference) through Etsy vendors.

  • tomandcourt, I may end up going the etsy route.  I've really enjoyed our BG aplix for the convenience and great fit.  Our other pockets with snaps just haven't fit O well enough (mostly FB) and it always seem like he has a badonkadonk.  lol  I still use them, and of course the snaps are fine, but the BGs have been our workhorse diapers.  DH never hangs them but I almost always do when I take them out of the wash.  I think it definitely helps preserve the aplix and PUL.  I need the diapers to last through at least this next baby, and possibly a third.  ;)
  • A couple of friends have sent them to a lady in Utah for new elastic and new aplix (actually they chose to add snaps instead of new Aplix). Abby's Lane connected them to the lady.
