False Labor :(

For the past two nights I have woken up to painful period like cramping.  The first night it happened I felt 3 of them and I was going to wake DH up if I felt another, but I fell asleep and never felt anything else.  Last night I felt 2 of them (and some soreness in my back) but that was it.  I kept waking up every 30 minutes afraid I would sleep through labor (yea right...like that could happen!) Is this false labor pains? It's very annoying and keeps getting my hopes up.  Sad  At my 37 week apt I was not dialated and I haven't lost my mucus plug and I haven't had any spotting...so I'm not trying to get my hopes up on anything...but have any of you ladies had this?  Is it just my body trying to make me angry?? lol.  I swear, it's like my body is crying 'wolf' lol.

    This was me all day yesterday - mildly painful contractions with period cramping and backache from 5 am to 6 pm. I went for a long walk in the evening thinking that would either speed it up if it was true labor or slow it down if it was false labor. Aaaaaannnnnddd... it was obviously not the real thing.

     Just means your body is getting warmed up for the real thing!

    Still sucks though :).

    I had that for 2 weeks with DD, and I've had it for close to a week now with this one. For some reason I was hoping that because this is my second child I wouldn't have this. Oh well...  I hate false labor...

    Thanks for the replys ladies! I know... I feel like when the real thing comes along I'm going to be like: 'Naw... just false labor' lol

    Yep, I've had this for the past week. I keep hoping I am going to wake up in severe pain after experiencing all the cramping... no such luck.

    On Sunday night contractions started at 9:00 pm and were 5 minutes apart for 12 hours, back pain, cramping. Called the doc Monday morning and went right in. Nothing! Not even a cm dialated. Now todat at 38 weeks, still nothing. It really is confusing. I swore that was it.

    I had 'false' labor for about a week and a half before he came. It really, really sucks! Of course, the night 'real' labor happened, I had been feeling almost normal all day, so it really could start for you any time! Hang in there

    This has been me for, like, two weeks.  I definitely don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I'll have that feeling for an entire day or two at a time and then it'll go away.  It's entirely possible that what you're feeling is helping prepare your body at least a little, though.  My doctor gives my false labor the credit for the small amount of dilation I've achieved.  I know how hard it is - I broke down a cried yesterday out of sheer frustration and discomfort - but try and keep your chin up.  No matter what, none of us has much longer to go!
