I just started thinking about since we are moving in a week I won't get to have a baby shower. Not that I need or want anything, but it's just a fun way to celebrate our new little girl. Then I started thinking about Ella's 2nd bday and how she will probably only have a small party (I'm sure my parents will come). I better make new friends ASAP! Can you tell I like parties?

My FIL is driving into town today and staying at out tiny little (832 sq. ft) house for the next four days. I'm dreading it!!! We have a two bedroom one bath house with us, our dog and two cats. The last time he stayed I caught him picking his nose, wiping and flinging it on my couch! I might pull the "pregnancy" card to get out of a packed day full of activities this weekend as he wants to be outside in the sun all day for the angels.
I really wish shows like Jersey Shore, Bad Girls Club, Real House Wives of NJ and Basketball Wives would just disappear. I hate that these popular shows are portraying women that only seem to get drunk, get in fist fights, and sleep with "whoever". I get that for adults it mindless entertainment. What upsets me is these shows are influencing pre-teen and teen girls. It seems to be "cool" now to be like the girls/women on these shows. I can't imagine how you even begin to fight against that stuff as a parent. My issue with Basketball Wives and RHONJ are that they are showing grown women in their 30's and older bickering and fist fighting. It terrifies me that they are Mothers.
I bought the book, The Help on Monday. I sat down to read it on Wednesday and read the whole thing. That is all I did that day. I changed diapers, did potty trips with the 3 year old and I fed them, but other then that - nada. The girls spent the day in their underwear/diapers and I in my pajama's.
We needed a new mattress pad for our bedroom, but I had to wait until pay day. I told DH that I was getting a new one and he was fine with it (not saying I have to check in with him, we are just trying to watch the $$ for the next couple of months). So I went to the store and bought a new mattress pad for every bed in the house, including future beds (Ella and Thea).
Speaking of beds... Thea doesn't have a bed yet. She is 10 months old and she sleeps in a pack n play (not even a crib) in our room or in bed with us. At this point I am thinking of just keeping her in the pack n play, then converting Ella's bed to a full and having the girls sleep together (they are going to be sharing a room). So, really that means, Thea won't have a bed of her own until we move back to WA in 4 years.

I LOVED that book! Is anyone planning on seeing the movie?
I HATE when DH dresses N. I know he is trying to be helpful and do something nice, but I can't stand it. He picks the weirdest outfits that not only don't go together they are usually weather inappropriate. I try not to say anything but I think he has noticed that I always change him before we leave the house. Maybe he could just take out the trash instead, now that would be helpful!

HA! I could have written this about my kids too. I want to know what he's thinking when he puts the kids in jeans and sweatshirts when its 75 degrees out. ???
Confession: Ollie loves the movie Milo and Otis, and watches it all the time. Every time we watch it though, it makes me wonder what a few of you ladies on here would have to say about it, b/c of the way the animals are treated (Shane etc.) I genuinely want to know.

I haven't seen that movie in so long, that I can't remember. But in general, most animal movies seem to have some sort of abuse or neglect as part of the story. It's there to pull on our heart strings. If you are worried about Ollie learning bad things, then you can demonstrate empathy to the animals during those moments in the movie. Saying things like "Oh my, that is so sad when _____ does that to _____. Animals should be treated kindly." Or something along those lines.

My DH is only allowed to dress DD on daycare days. I don't really care on those days because whatever it is gets messy messy messy. But seriously, he'll put her in like 20 different shades of pink and find the one pair of newborn socks and try to stick them on her feet. Silly men!
Mine are all FB related today... 1- Why do people tag themselves in their own pictures? 2- I have a couple of FB friends I had to hide (one being my SIL) because at least every other day she takes a self portrait of herself in the car befor...e work. Every single one is the exact head slightly tilted and turned to the side pose, just w/ a different outfit. What is the point of this?! 3- A former coworker just went back to work after 6mo home on Mat leave. She literally posts 6-10 times a day about how much she misses her kid. I get it, you miss her, but WORK and the day will go faster. Plus she posted 20 cell phone pics of the kid a day when she was home, and the kid is kindof unfortunatly looking... I think she needs to grow into her cutness still.

Its not really like that, just the situations they put the animals in, like the part where the cat gets dropped off a cliff into the ocean and has to swim back, and you can tell its an actual cat. I just dont think they had the same laws about animals and movie-making back then.

But a lot can be done with camera angles to make it look like that.
I might get flamed anyway for this one, but here goes...
I had my review today at work & got a very small raise. They aren't even giving most people raises right now, so I feel lucky to have received any bump in pay.
But...since I manage the $$ & it's such a small amount, I'm not telling DH about it. I would rather have the extra wiggle room without him thinking, "oh she got a raise! we can eat out more!"
And since it's such a small amount, I'm just going to forward it on to paying more on the credit card each month to pay our debt off before baby comes. It's not like I got a raise & now I'm going to keep the money for myself.

In an attempt to try to cut down on our grocery bill, I baked bread at home yesterday. We don't have a bread machine or a stand mixer, so it was all by hand. It turned out so good that I've been gobbling it up. This is bad for three reasons, 1) I feel like I'm tooting my own horn every time I delight in a bite, 2) I don't usually eat much bread, so me chowing down on it is not going to be a $ saver, and 3) I am still watching what I eat/dieting, so eating tons of bread (and of course slathering it with butter) is very bad for that.

Although I love my BFF - I am so ready for her wedding to be over tomorrow. We have spent SO much of our money on wedding stuff (bach party in Vegas, hosting a shower, dress, shoes, hair, nails, gift, etc.) and we're trying to stick to a strict budget. I feel like it's causing tension and stress between DH and I and I just want to get back to our budget and saving money ..
In the last 2 weeks I've forgotten about something at daycare and then W has to suffer for it. One was show n share day, and the other was an extra change of clothes for a messy activity. I feel so horrible that I can't keep our family running because I am so stupid tired and pulled in 100 directions lately.
Yesterday my boss made a comment about me coming back to work part time and I got surprisingly excited. I have never even considered working PT, I really like working and bringing home an income but I"ve found myself looking so forward to maternity leave I'm wondering if I should consider it. Here's the confession: I think I'll judge myself for not being "stong" enough to work full time with 2 kids. I think I'll feel like I"m quitting being a FT working mom because I can't handle it, even though it would still be 35 hours/week. The greatest benefit I would get is having time for myself since it would free up some evening time to do some more me things and less house/home things. Why do mom's have such a hard time justifying "me" time?

I bought a shoe organizer at Ikea and hung it in DD's closet with pre-made outfits for DH to pick from. It has helped a TON to have her dressed in a reasonable outfit without me having to do it!

This is why we don't have a breadmaker. I love homemade bread but I'm too lazy to knead it myself!

Have you tried the no-knead breads? It's easier/faster than hand-kneading, but you can just make a tiny loaf (enough for the day) and leave the rest of the dough in the fridge. In dough form it lasts up to 2 weeks (depending on recipe), but only about a day in baked form. Here's a book to consider (and the authors have lots of the recipes on their site, so you can try it before buying it, or just use the online recipes). It's been a really long time for me too. I would hope that the animals in it were treated kindly and safely, obviously it was made long enough ago that the laws, unfortunately, were probably not as strong as they are today to protect animal actors. With regards to watching things like that, or reading books (I think I might even have the M&O book from when I was a kid somewhere) I try even now to use them as lessons. C has one book about pets where the puppies are outside with a doghouse and I say "see these puppies? They have a dog house. But all doggies should really live inside like ours do, unless they are working doggies." Anyway there is no way, nor do I have an express desire, to keep her from seeing/reading things that depict a viewpoint that DH and I disagree with in regards to animal care. But we will try to use them as a teaching tool, as pinktulips said. Animal movies always make me cry...she will probably be the same when she is older. Does that answer your question, hopefully?
